Nagaland Gov visits CIHSR, St Joseph University

Chümoukedima, February 7 (MExN): The Governor of Nagaland and Assam, Prof Jadish Mukhi visited Christian Institute of Health Science and Research (CIHSR) Chümoukedima on February 7. He visited various departments and wards of the Hospital and interacted with the medical personnel, an update from the DIPR said. 

Prof Jadish Mukhi congratulated all the frontline warriors- doctors, nurses, paramedics, and others for handling the surge of COVID 19 effectively till today. He urged the administration of CIHSR and the state government to take steps to make affordable healthcare services available to the farthest region in the state which will also reflect a progressive Nagaland marching ahead in the 21st century he stated. 

The Governor also visited St Joseph University, Chümoukedima on Saturday.

Delivering his special address he congratulated all the students, the teachers and the staff of the university for responding to the pandemic in a most praise worthy manner. He said that the corona virus has impacted all walks of life, and education is no exception. Fortunately, technology provided a solution. Schools, colleges and universities across India have continued to provide education in all online mode and make e-resources available to its students. It shows how a university's contribution to society can go far beyond imparting education. He stated.

“Today, we are in an era when rote learning must be kept aside and the idea of research in education has to be promoted” He stated. He also mentioned that the new National Education Policy is a guiding light, as it encourages research and development. Education under this policy, will move from content heavy towards learning more about how to think critically and solve problems, how to be creative and multidisciplinary, and how to innovate, adapt and absorb new material in every changing fields of study. The curriculum will include basic arts, humanities, sports and languages, and it will be based on our culture and values he added.

Earlier, the program was invoke by Dy COE Rev Fr BY Augustin. Welcome address was delivered by Vice Chancellor Dr D Gnanadurai. A video was presented about the university and vote of thanks was delivered by Dr A Anthonisan. The Governor also planted a sapling at the University campus.
