In 2021, Government Schools performed ‘exceptionally’ showing a decline in schools securing ‘zero/nil result’ while those reporting 100% pass result nearly doubled.

Unfortunately, the momentum could not be maintained in 2022, as the performance of the Government schools regressed to pre-2021 level, with increase in ‘nil’ schools and decrease in 100% pass percentage.

According to results of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Exam declared by the Nagaland Board of School Education on May 31, Government schools in Nagaland reporting ‘zero/nil result’ increased from 23 in 2021 to 33 in 2022, just one short of the 34 schools reporting similar outcome in 2020.

In 2022, 34 schools have zero/nil result out of which 33 are government schools and 1 private school.

On the other hand, Government schools showing 100% qualified/pass percentage declined from 25 in 2021, to 12 in 2022, indicating a 52% decline.

In 2022, a total of 90 schools secured 100% qualified/pass percentage. Out of this, 78 are private schools and 12 are government schools.
Overall, however, schools securing 100% pass percentage declined from 120 in 2021 to 90 in 2022.

Again, the pass percentage of the Government schools at 36.62% in 2022 was the worst performance in the past 6 years, beating the previous low record of 40.77% in 2018.

In terms of district wise performance for government schools, Kohima district topped the table with a percentage of 57% followed by Mokokchung and Peren districts at 54% and 52%. Kiphire district is at the bottom with 7%.

Out of 1,527 candidates securing 80 marks and above in aggregate, 20 candidates were from government schools.

However, there were brighter sides in the results for High Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) Exam as 6 Government schools showed 100% pass result out of 16 overall.

In Arts stream, GHSS Naginimora secured the feat, while in Commerce; the schools were RGHSS, Kohima and GHSS Jotsoma.

For the Science Stream, GHSS Tuensang and GHSS Zunheboto achieved the milestone with 29 and 1 students respectively.

Besides, there were 2 toppers from GHSS in HSSLC Merit list in Arts stream – Neithozonuo of GHSS Jotsoma ranked 4th with 95.80% and Tianaro Kichu of GHSS Chümoukedima with 94.00%.
