Kohima | June 3

Union Minister for Law and Justice DV Sadananda Gowda, Minister for State for Panchayati Raj Nihalchnad Meghwal, and BJP National Vice President Vinay Sahasrabudhe held a press conference on June 3 at Raj Bhavan, Kohima.

BJP National Vice President, Vinay Sahasrabudhe highlighted the achievements of the Modi Government which he said has focused on people’s participation through connectivity, strengthening implementations and infrastructures, ‘strict No to populism’ and ‘unblemished performance’. “This government is a spotless government. There is no scam, there is no corruption, there is no scandal,” he claimed.

On the issue of lack of good roads, underdevelopment and financial crunch in Nagaland, he pointed out that certain constraints such as the issue of land problems in Nagaland are areas of concern. “Unless this state government cooperates, the developmental activities cannot be taken up. Everybody knows. Land has to be provided by the state government,” said Sahasrabudhe.

Gowda meanwhile supplemented that the development agenda needs to be pushed and leadership at the apex level has to be very cautious of the measures to be taken.

The Naga political issue and the Framework Agreement were raised several times by the media persons; however; the dignitaries declined to comment on the Naga political issue terming it as a ‘sensitive issue’.

However, Gowda pointed out that the style of functioning of the present government is entirely different and added, “Within a day or two everything cannot be implemented but step by step it will implemented. Cooperation from the state is more required. The government will not go out of the agreements.”

On being pointed out that that numerous schemes implemented by the government have failed to reach the poorer sections, the dignitaries replied that awareness creation is required and that the society, NGOs and the government need to make efforts to spread awareness.

‘Illegal immigration to be curbed in a short time’

On the issue of illegal immigration, Gowda stated that India and Bangladesh have entered into an agreement and is working on fencing. “By the end of December we are planning to complete the fencing. There will not be any future illegal immigration either to Bangladesh or India,” he assured, adding that proper fencing for the safety and security of the country is a prime concern. “Bangladesh infiltrators and immigrants will be stopped in a very short period of time. Not even a single man can have an entry without proper documents,” he claimed.
