DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 4 (MExN): Nagaland Governor, La Ganesan and Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio have extended Teachers’ Day greetings to all educators in the State and appreciated all teachers who have “dedicated their lives in shaping and nurturing our future.”

It is indeed a day to congratulate the teachers for their dedication and invaluable contribution, a press release from the Governor stated. “The teachers are undoubtedly the backbone of society and nation builders. They not only impart knowledge but inspire dreams in us and mould our future. They are our mentor, counsellor and also play the role of parents sometimes. They inspire and motivate us to believe in ourselves and encourage us to pursue our dreams. They instill within us valuable life skills and moral values of honesty, integrity, hard work and empathy,” the Governor stated.

As Teachers' Day is celebrated, the Governor urged all to reflect on the profound impact teachers have on lives.

The Chief Minister meanwhile stated that while the Government is tasked with the responsibility of establishing a robust education system for delivery of quality education in the State, the active support of all stakeholders is critical, amongst which the role of teachers is the most significant.

“The Teacher Attendance Monitoring System (TAMS) is also being rolled out shortly, which will provide a robust application called ‘SMILE’ (Smart attendance Management and Informative Leaves) for teachers to mark attendance, submit request for leaves and obtain approval, all through their mobile phones,” the CM informed.

While taking cognizance of the need to provide a conducive environment and need to capacitate teachers to enable them to deliver according to the demands of the changing times, as envisaged in the National Education Policy 2020, professional development of teachers and capacity building programmes on pedagogy/ teaching learning transactions have become regular activities in the State, he added.

The CM assured that the State Government is committed to empowering teachers in building their capacities and will continue to support the endeavours to create a future ready generation. Further, the CM acknowledged the service rendered by teachers in the past. “Because of their commitment and dedication in their profession, statesmen and leaders could be produced who charted the developmental trajectory of the State,” he added.
