DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 5 (MExN): Nagaland State Governor, PB Acharya and Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio today paid tribute to the state’s Home Guards and Civil Defence for their service to the state and society.
To mark the occasion of the Nagaland Home Guards and Civil Defence Raising Day on December 6, the Governor stated that the Home Guards & Civil Defence personnel serve as auxiliary support to the Police and Civil administration and help in maintaining law & order, and assist during disasters like fire, floods, epidemics etc.
“They render vital and absolutely valuable service to society. I am confident that they will continue to work with the same zeal keeping service before self in serving the society and the Nation”, he added.
Acharya expressed hope that the organisation will continue its journey towards excellence and hoped that it will continue its selfless service in safeguarding civilian life and property in the state with more enthusiasm and perseverance.
The Chief Minister, in his message, pointed out that the Home Guards & Civil Defence was originally raised as a subsidiary force for aiding the State Police and Civil Administration in maintenance of law and order. Their responsibilities have grown hugely over the years, the CM observed.
“I extend my warmest greeting and felicitations to the members of the Home Guards' and Civil Defence Organization for the yeoman service rendered by them for the people in distress and especially during emergency situations, natural calamities, accidents etc,” he said.
Rio further saluted them for their voluntary service and urged the officers and all ranks of Home Guards' and Civil Defence, Nagaland to continue to uphold the proud tradition of service to humanity.
