Nagaland Governor donates Rs 2 lakh for construction of marketing shed

Kohima, September 27 (MExN): The Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya has donated a sum of Rs 2 Lakh to the Akehda Sangtamlaru Thsingmujang (Sangtem Women Organisation) of Kiphire during his recent visit to the district on September 20 for construction of marketing shed for women vendors at Kiphire.  

PRO to Governor stated in a press release that the Governor announced the amount while interacting with members of the organisation led by its President, Thsatila. He expressed hope that the marketing shed will provide women vegetable vendors with clean and secured kiosks. The organisation also informed the Governor that the District Administration in collaboration with civil societies are playing a vital role in managing and handling the available essential commodities and trying to reach to the neediest ones first.  

The AST also submitted a representation to the Governor seeking his support in the health sector in the district. The organisation stated that the District Hospital does not have enough staff and lacks in many areas including machines and equipments. The representation stated that pregnant women are one of the most affected.  

Various organisations including United Sangtem Likhum Pumji, Yimchunger Tribal Council and Eastern Sumi Hoho submitted a joint representation stating the grievances faced by the people of the district. The organisations seeked the Governor's intervention in the road, health and public sectors for the development of the district. The organisations also assured to provide full co operation for any developmental activates that may be carried out in the district.  

Similar representations were also submitted by other organisations under Kiphire district.  

Distributes portable generators

Governor Acharya during his visit to Kiphire district also distributed portable generators to the Village Councils of Pungro, Phelunger and Mimi village.
