
Kohima, May 26 (MExN): A ceremony on presentation of Governor’s Award and NBSE Awards to toppers and felicitation of rank holders of HSLC and HSSLC examination 2017 was held at Durban Hall, Raj Bhavan, Kohima on May 26.
Pointing that the sole and ultimate goal of education is not acquiring degrees and making money or getting rich, Governor of Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, PB Acharya called for translating this knowledge into reality, adding that they have great responsibilities to take the state forward.
He called on the private firms to open up their branches in the ENPO and other backward regions so as to trickle down quality education into these regions.
Lamenting the alarming rate of the educated unemployment in the state, he urged the schools and educational institutions in the state to introduce more of skill related subjects and courses apart from the existing ones to meet the demands and requirement of the state.
He also pointed that the lack of opportunities in the state has forced many qualified graduates from different fields to work outside the state; he therefore called for creating opportunities to address this crisis of drain of knowledge and expertise.
The Governor, while congratulating the Government for the introduction of mother tongue as the second language in schools from classes V – VIII, encouraged the people to be real and stand firm on the greatness of the Naga culture and society to preserve the same.
Principal Secretary, School Education and SCERT, FP Solo delivering short speech expressed hope that Nagaland Board of School Education will produce even better results in the future. He appealed for help and cooperation from the people to implement the important policy of introducing mother tongue in the school curriculum in lieu of alternative English.
Achieving something is one thing and holding on what was achieved is the most difficult thing requiring more struggle and efforts to remain at the top, said the Minister of School Education and SCERT, Yitachu, while delivering short speech. Apprising that 2/3rd of the students in the state are school and college drop outs, he appealed the toppers to help others reminding them that this will be their greatest achievement.
Earlier delivering the welcome address, Chairman, NBSE, Asano Sekhose while congratulating the students and teachers for their success pointed on the need to be happy in what one is doing.
Pastor, Union Baptist Church, Kohima, Rev. Dr. Rachülie Vihienuo said the thanksgiving prayer, while students from Minister’s Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School, Kohima and HSCL 2017 Music topper Neingusalie Yano enthralled the gathering with special song.

Saprüna of Arts Stream from Minister’s Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School Kohima, Rajdeep Nath of Commerce Stream from Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School Dimapur and Piklu Paul of Science Stream from Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School Dimapur.
