Nagaland Governor, others condole Gogoi's demise

Dimapur, November 24 (MExN): Nagaland Governor RN Ravi on Tuesday conveyed his condolence on the demise of former Assam Chief Minister, Tarun Gogoi, who passed away on November 23.

"Death of Shri Tarun Gogoi has deeply saddened me. The Country has lost a senior statesman. Let his soul rest in peace!” the Governor tweeted.

NPYC: The Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress (NPYC) in its condolence message said, "As a staunch Congress loyalist, our beloved leader has contributed immensely towards the interest and welfare of the people of Assam, Northeast and the party." 

It further stated that the Indian National Congress party has lost a tall, dynamic and people's leader, “whose place is irreplaceable and the void created cannot be filled by anyone. We will always remember and cherish his exemplary deeds contributed towards the party and generation to come,” it added.

NPYC president Vilhousielie Kenguriise prayed to God to grant solace and comfort to the bereaved family.

Minority Department, NPCC: Meanwhile, in a separate statement, the Minority Department Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) paid tribute and homage to the late Congress stalwart.

Mourning the demise of “one of the tallest leaders of North East India and Assam,” the State Chairman Minority Department, NPCC Rajesh Kumar Sethi said “He is admired and respected for his extraordinary vision, wisdom, courage and ability…”

The Minority Department of the NPCC also extended their condolences to Gaurav Gogoi and his family.

NPP: National People's Party (NPP) Nagaland State on Tuesday expressed grief at the demise of the former Assam CM.

“With his death, the entire country along with the people of Assam has lost a staunch supporter of human rights and dignity,” NPP Nagaland President Dr Andrew Ahoto Sema wrote in his condolence message.

He further stated that during his tenure as the CM of Assam, Gogoi brought about equitable and inclusive development of Assam and also laid emphasis on bringing the North Eastern region on the map of progress and development.

“The entire rank and file of NPP Nagaland State pay our deepest respects and homage to the departed soul and offer our profound condolences to the bereaved family members including his wife and children,” the message read.
The NPP Nagaland also prayed for peace to the departed soul.
