
Dimapur, October 2 (MExN): Governor of Nagaland and Assam Prof Jagdish Mukhi has extended warm greetings to the people of Nagaland on the occasion of Dussehra (Mahashtami).
“The festival celebrates the victory of Lord Rama over Ravana. It also celebrates the triumph of Goddess Durga over demon Mahishasura. This beautiful festival is a celebration of victory of truth over falsehood, triumph of the righteous and defeat of evil,” he said in a message received here on Sunday.
Calling on the people to celebrate the festival observing all the COVID-19 protocols, the Governor expressed hope that the occasion would “inspire us to follow the path of virtue and guide us towards oneness, amity, happiness and prosperity.”
In another message, the Nagaland Bhojpuri Samaj extended greetings in a press release issued by President Pramod Singh. “Hope Maa Durga gives us courage and strength to face all the odds in life and shower our life with unlimited happiness and also pray that all of us have the best blessings from Goddess Durga today and always,” it said.
Similarly, President of the Minority Morcha, BJP Nagaland Deep Kumar expressed hope that “Maa Durga will give everyone courage and strength to face all the odds in life and shower our life with unlimited happiness.” In a press release on Sunday, he also requested everybody to participate in 'Swach Bharat' programme on October 2 by cleaning nearby areas.
Meanwhile, the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) Nagaland unit also greeted the Hindu community of Nagaland and neighbouring states. Stating that the festival celebrates the triumph of truth and the righteous and the defeat of evil, it called on the people to follow the virtuous path towards oneness, amity, and prosperity.
“Happy Durga Puja to all. May the Pujas bring peace and prosperity and herald a season of brotherhood and love among all communities,” stated Leader of NPF Legislature Party and & Co-Chairman UDA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu.
Extending greetings in a press release, Azo expressed hope that the Puja would bring the communities closer.
