Nagaland Governor visits Avankhung village

Phek, October 29 (MExN): The Governor of Assam and Nagaland, Prof Jagdish Mukhi visited Avankhung village under Meluri Sub-Division of Phek district on October 29 and conducted series of interaction meetings with the district officers from various departments, NGOs and Hohos of Pochury community.

The Governor urged upon the department officers to handle all developmental flagship policies with sincerity and ensure that various the schemes reach the citizens, stated a DIPR report. 

On the education system, Governor said that children up to primary standard should be taught in mother tongue and encouraged to impart culture and tradition, so that it ‘would create feeling of unity and patriotism for greater interest our Nation.’

Stating that the national income would automatically increase when income of the farmers grow, he asked the concerned department officers and district administration to monitor the farmers’ incomes through flagship schemes. 

While interacting with the Pochury Hoho and Pochury Women Hoho, he urged them to preserve culture and tradition. 

In regard to the demand for upgradation of Meluri sub-division to District status, the Governor informed that ‘the State Government is taking care of the demand.’ 

The Governor also interacted with Police and Assam Rifles. Earlier, on arrival at helipad Avangkhu, the Governor accompanied by his wife, was briefed by Hem Chandra Singh, Commanding officer of 38 Assam Rifle camping at Avangkhu, Phek.
