Kohima, June 24 (MExN): Nagaland Governor La Ganesan today visited the Mary Help of Christians Cathedral in Kohima.

The visit, marked by an informal tea and interaction, provided an opportunity for the Governor to engage with Bishop James Thoppil and the leaders of the Catholic Church.

Upon arrival, the Governor embarked on a guided tour of the Cathedral and its surrounding campus, appreciating the architectural beauty and the serene environment of the premises.

The informal interaction session commenced with tea, where Bishop James Thoppil extended a heartfelt welcome to the Governor and expressed his gratitude for accepting the invitation to visit the Cathedral.

During the session, key presentations were made by prominent members of the Church. Fr. Jacob Charallel presented the Church's contributions to education, detailing various initiatives and institutions that have played a pivotal role in enhancing educational standards in the state. Fr. Sajan Joseph shed light on the Church's social mission, emphasizing the numerous programs aimed at uplifting the underprivileged and marginalized communities.

Fr Joe Mariadoss spoke about the Church's humanitarian efforts, outlining the extensive work done in areas such as healthcare, childcare, and community development.

In his address, Ganesan acknowledged the remarkable sacrifices and contributions made by the Catholic Church towards the growth and progress of Nagaland.

He commended the dedication and hard work that have transformed the Cathedral into a landmark of beauty and spiritual solace for the state.

“The efforts and dedication of the Church in various fields are truly commendable,” the Governor remarked. He stressed “together we can do” and promised whatever he can to support the efforts of the church for the good of the state.
