The Governor of Nagaland La Ganesan handed over Governor’s Gold Medals & Governor’s Silver medals to Assam Rifles personnel at an impressive Investiture Ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, Kohima on October 9.

During the ceremony, 10 AR personnel were awarded with Governor’s Gold Medal while 14 were awarded with Governor’s Silver Medal in recognition of their exemplary leadership, bravery and commitment to the service.

In addition, 7th Assam Rifles Battalion and 45th Assam Rifles Battalion were also honoured with the prestigious Governor’s Unit Appreciation for their outstanding performance in operations.

These units have consistently displayed operational success, efficiency, and dedication to the high standards of Assam Rifles.

“Today, we gather not just to recognize individual achievements, but to pay tribute to the collective spirit of service that the Assam Rifles embodies,” Ganesan said while addressing the ceremony.

Governor expressed happiness over the remarkable achievements and contributions of the distinguished award winners towards “our nation- a moment that also celebrates the unwavering dedication, courage, and commitment of our brave men and women of Assam Rifles.”

Inspired by the exemplary service rendered by the Assam Rifles, Ganesan said “Your role extends beyond safeguarding our borders. You are vital pillars of our community, acting as peacekeepers and facilitators of development in remote areas. Your presence has ensured not only security but also stability, which is crucial for progress in our region.”

As we bestow these accolades, let us reflect on the significance of their (Assam Rifles) contributions, which illuminate the path toward a brighter and more prosperous Nagaland, he said adding that their achievements serve as a beacon of hope and motivation for future generations, underscoring the values of hard work, integrity, and excellence.

‘Assam Rifles have long been ambassadors of peace and goodwill’
Congratulating the recipients of the award, he said “Your exemplary actions inspire not only your fellow soldiers but also the entire nation. You have set a benchmark for excellence, and your stories of bravery will resonate for generations to come.”

Acknowledging some of the Battallions that have excelled in their duties, he said “This recognition highlights the spirit of teamwork and camaraderie not just within the armed forces but also with the district administration and the general public that is vital for ensuring peace and security in the region.”

“This recognition also highlights the fact that the Assam Rifles have long been ambassadors of peace and goodwill, serving as a bridge between communities and the military,” Ganesan said.

The Assam Rifles and its role in Nagaland and North East have also been highlighted at the ceremony.
