Nagaland Govt assures ANCSU on NEC seat allotment

DIMAPUR, MAY 11 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students Union (ANCSU) held a meeting at the Chief Secretary’s Conference hall, to discuss about the issue of seat allotment to Nagaland State by the North Eastern Council (NEC).  

A press note from the ANCSU informed that the meeting was attended by the Secretary Higher and Technical Education, Addl secretary HTE and Director Technical Education.  

The ANCSU informed that the government officials assured the union that the seats allotted to Nagaland state by north eastern council (NEC) “shall not be allotted to any non locals.” “The seats will be allotted only to the indigenous inhabitants of Nagaland state (NEC).” In reference to the government notification for general category for selection of candidates under state reserved seats, the ANCSU pointed out that the children of state government employees, All India Service borne on Nagaland cadre, will be eligible for appearing the exam if only the parents of the children are posted and residing in Nagaland at least for 3 years prior to examination, provided the candidate must be a passed out of 10, 10+2 for diploma courses and professional courses respectively, from a recognized institution from within the Nagaland state.  

The ANCSU also pointed out that the children of state government employees, All India Service borne of Nagaland cadre shall be eligible to appear for general category only after fulfillment of all the above mentioned criteria.  

According to the ANCSU, the officials of the department and the Chief Secretary of Nagaland assured that the demands made by ANCSU will be initiated for further necessary amendments before selection of candidates for technical and other allied courses under general category and NEC reserved seats with the cabinet approval. 

The ANCSU further appreciated the civil society, student organisations, parents, students and concerned citizens for their support and cooperation during the process of its activities.
