50th WADSA anniversary celebration begins in Kiruphema

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today said that state government is committed to promote sports and the state would soon have better sporting infrastructure and facilities to provide better opportunities to upcoming youngsters.

He was addressing the four-day long 50th anniversary of Western Angami ‘D’ Sports Association (WADSA) which commenced today at Kiruphema village Ground, Peducha as the special guest. MLA Keneizhakho Nakhro respectively were the special guest and guest of honour.

Rio further said that the government wants to host national games, but maintained that if the local sportspersons fail to win medals, it would be shameful to the state.

He also encouraged the youngsters to have sheer discipline, dedication, determination in order to excel in sports so that Nagaland will look forward to host national events.

CM Rio also lauded WADSA for attaining 50 years and Kiruphema village for coming up with the standard local ground, which would benefit the youngsters in various sports disciplines and also will boost and promote sportsperson in various fields.

Earlier, the WADSA 50th anniversary monolith stone and Kiruphema ground monolith were unveiled by Chief Minister.

The inaugural ceremony was led by Sedeneikho Shosahie, Convenor, Organising Committee while welcome address was delivered by Thepfüyiengu Vielie, chairman, Kiruphema General Council.

Rüüngutuo Sechü, President, Western Angami 'D' Public Organization shared greetings while presidential address was delivered by Rokoneikho Rhatsu, President WADSA.

Asalie Kruse, Wrestling Secretary, WADSA administered oath to the participating teams.

The sports meet will continue till January 15.
