
Kohima, May 24 (MExN): The Government of Nagaland has constituted the Third Nagaland State Finance Commission comprising of a chairman and two other members.
Accodingding to the State DIPR, Menukhol John, (Retd) Principal Secretary will head the Commission while Sarah Ritse, (Retd) Commissioner & Secretary and GW Lee, Retd Director (T&A) respectively are the member and member-secretary.
The tenure of the Commission is for 12 months from the date of issue of the notification regarding their constitution and will make its report available by February 29, 2024 covering the period of three years commencing from April 1, 2023.
Among others, the Commission make recommendations relating the distribution between the State and the Municipalities of the net proceeds of taxes, duties, tolls and fees leviable by the State; measures needed to improve the financial position of the municipalities; and rates of various taxes, tolls and fees that may be raised by the municipalities and the method of determining the same.
Terms of office of the chairman and the whole time members and conditions of their services and other allowances shall be as prescribed under Rule 6 and 7 of the Nagaland State, the DIPR added.
