Nagaland govt constitutes committee to compile personal customary practices, usages of all tribes

DIMAPUR, JULY 26 (MExN): The Nagaland Government has constituted a Committee headed by Chief Secretary for compilation of personal customary practices and usages of all the tribes in the state. 

The Committee which will be headed by Nagaland Chief Secretary Temjen Toy will also include Home Commissioner, and Secretary, Law and Justice as members and Commissioner & Secretary, Art & Culture as member secretary. 

A notification issued by the Chief Secretary stated that the Committee will chalk out the modalities for carrying out its work in the manner it deems appropriate. It will utilize the services of any government official or associate any person as it may deem fit for successful completion of the task assigned to it. 

The Committee shall submit its report within two months from the date if its constitution, the notification informed. 

In this connection, a meeting for discussion and deliberation on the above exercise has been convened with all the tribal bodies of the state on August 7, 2019 at 11am at the Secretariat Conference Hall, Kohima. 

The following organizations to be led by its president and two representatives have been requested to make it convenient to attend the meeting- Angami Public Organization; Ao Senden; Chakhesang Public Organisation; Chang Khulei Setsang; Garo Tribal Council; Kachari Tribal Council, Nagaland; Karbi (Mikir) Union; Khiamniungan Tribal Council; Konyak Union; Kuki Inpi; Lotha Hoho; Phom People Council; Pochury Hoho; Rengma Hoho; Sumi Hoho; United Sangtam Likhum Pumji; Yimchungrü Tribal Council; and Zeliang People's Organisation.
