Nagaland Govt directs strict enforcement of wearing masks

KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 9 (MExN): The Nagaland State Government has cautioned that action will be taken against persons not wearing masks in public places. 

An order issued by the Chief Secretary said that many persons are being found not wearing masks in public places in violation of the government’s directive to prevent spread of COVID-19 in the State. It informed that action is to be taken against those found not wearing masks and a penalty of Rs 200 is to be imposed every time the offence is committed. 

ASI and above level officers of Police, and Assistant Road Safety & Enforcement Inspector and above level officers of the Transport Department, are the enforcement agencies for the aforesaid provision. 

The order directed all District Task Forces (DTFs) to take urgent steps for ensuring enforcement of the directive for mask wearing in public places and for taking action against those violating, in their respective jurisdiction. 

Further, all the DTFs have been directed to submit daily reports to the State Level War Room on the number of persons not wearing masks in public places found by the enforcement agencies, and the total fine collected from the violators.
