Kohima | December 16
An awareness-cum-enrolment camp on the Chief Minister's Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) for working journalists accredited by the government of Nagaland was held on December 16 at the DIPR Citadel Kohima.
It may be mention that the inclusion of working journalists accredited by the state government to be covered under the CMHIS was notified by the government in March 2024.
The separate database for journalists under the scheme was created to ensure that no accredited working journalist would be left out from the coverage of the scheme, be it indigenous or non-indigenous journalists.
The camp was conducted by the Nagaland Health Protection Society (NHPS), an entity under the state Health and Family Welfare Department which is tasked with administering public health protection schemes in the state.
NHPS operations manager, Alongla Aier delivered a detailed presentation on the CMHIS coverage, and how accredited journalists would benefit from the scheme.
NHPS BIS consultant Neithsope Sekhamo and his team assisted journalists to register and generate their beneficiary cards.
The awareness and enrolment camp for accredited journalists held on Monday was the first such event held for Kohima-based journalists.
A similar camp will be held at Dimapur on Tuesday for Dimapur-based accredited journalists.
During the programme, Kohima Press Club president Alice Yhoshü expressed appreciation to the state government for acknowledging the role of the Press and initiating this step of inclusion. She acknowledged the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) and the NHPS for their efforts in facilitating the camp for accredited journalists, while also making a special mention of Additional Chief Secretary and Finance Commissioner Sentiyanger Imchen who has been instrumental in pushing this inclusion of accredited working journalists to be covered by the health insurance scheme.
Currently, a total of 43 journalists are accredited by the Government of Nagaland.
