Chümoukedima, April 29 (MExN): The Department of Agriculture, Government of Nagaland organised state level workshop-cum-awareness programme on oil palm cultivation in the state at Agri-Expo site, Chümoukedima on April 28
As per a DIPR report, special guest, Advisor of Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan said, “oil palm market is huge in the country where more than 50% of oil palm is imported from different countries.”
He said that oil palm cultivation in the state is suitable and urged the farmers to work hard and give their best efforts to boost the economy. He also mentioned that the state government has earmarked 15000 hectares for oil palm cultivation and around 1000 hectares is currently being utilised.
The Advisor also reminded the two private companies i.e. Godrej Agrovet limited & Patanjali Foods limited with which the Government of Nagaland has signed an MOU to develop trust and confidence for a successful venture.
Earlier, M Ben Yanthan, Director of Agriculture delivered the key note address while Dr Beremjungla Deputy Director delivered the vote of thanks, Z. Hukato Sema, Join director chaired the meeting.
Official from the two private companies also held technical session with oil palm farmers from Peren, Chümoukedima, Niuland, Dimapur Mokokchung, Longleng and Mon districts.
