Nagaland govt, SBI sign MoU for enhanced salary benefits

Kohima, June 11 (MExN): Finance Department, Government of Nagaland has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with State Bank of India (SBI) on March 27 last for the State Government Salary Package (SGSP) for enhancement of features to provide enhanced salary package benefits to permanent State Government employees operating their salary accounts with SBI.

Key highlights of the State Government Salary package include:
•    Government employees’ family is entitled to Accidental Insurance Cover up to Rs 1 crore in case of accidental death.
•    Air Accidental Insurance Cover up to Rs 2.1 crore in case of accidental death of the Government employee.
•    Disability cover up to Rs 1 crore in case of permanent total disability.
•    Disability cover up to Rs 80 lakh in case of permanent partial disability.
•    Group term life insurance up to Rs 10 lakh
•    Child Education Benefit: applicable on the admissibility of Personal Accidental Insurance (Death) cover
•    Girl Child’s Marriage Benefit: applicable on the admissibility of Personal Accidental Insurance (Death) cover.
•    Other add-on covers for plastic surgery in case of burns, import of medicines, ambulance charges, transportation of mortal remains, etc.
•    SBI RISHTEY, which includes a Family Savings account for up to 4 family members, with Personal Accidental Insurance covers of Rs 5 lakh each for all RISHTEY A/C holders (except minors).

As per a DIPR report, these benefits are to be provided free of cost to the beneficiaries. The MoU en bloc covers the employees already having a Salary account with SBI.
All Government employees have been requested to verify their accounts with the banks for coverage under the Account type SGSP and insist on conversion. For those government employees who have already been converted to SGSP, the variant of account/category based on the net salary may be confirmed with the respective home branch.
