The Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI), the Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), the East Dimapur Business Association (EDBA) and the Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) have decided to support the ‘Bharat Bandh’ called by CAIT.
In this connection, they have directed their members to observe a half day “shutter down” from morning till 12 noon on February 18 to express solidarity with the nation and families of the martyrs in the Pulwama attack in Jammu & Kashmir on Thursday, and to “send out a message that terrorism has no place in our society.”
The CNCCI meanwhile appealed the public “not to be confused as it is solidarity half day shutter down till noon and not total bandh.”
The half day shutter down will exempt medicine shops and educational institutions and there will be no restriction on movement of vehicles either.
This was informed in separate press releases from CNCCI Chairperson, Dr. Khekugha Muru, DCCI President, Akashe Zhimomi, EDBA President, Atoka Zhimomi, MCCI President, Tsukti Longkumer, and MCCI General Secretary, Limalenden Longkumer.
Meanwhile, instead of half-day closure on Monday, shops in Wokha will be hoisting black flags for a week in solidarity.
The Wokha Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WDCCI) President Renponthung Ezung in a press release informed that the district will not join others due to sudden nature of the decision and “it will be inconvenient for those coming to town for shopping from different villages.”
Earlier, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) had announced the nationwide trade bandh to express solidarity with the families of security personnel martyred in the Pulwama terror attack.
CAIT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal said during the bandh traders would observe a day long fast and take out a tribute march in their respective states, PTI reported.
He said the body is planning to organise substantial financial assistance which will be directly given by traders to the families of martyrs.
Traders in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Haryana, J&K and other states will participate in the trade bandh on February 18.
"In the wake of China supporting Pakistan, the CAIT has decided to launch a national campaign to boycott Chinese goods,” the traders' body said.
It said the Bharat Trade Bandh across the country will be peaceful and only for business establishments.
