Nagaland has 410.45 MT of coal

New Delhi, January 5 (MExN): As per Geological Survey of India (GSI) Coal Inventory, Nagaland has an estimated total of 410.45 Million Tonnes of coal spread over five coalfields. The major chunk of the coal is under the Directorate of Geology and Mining (DGM) area with 293.47 MT while Jhanzi-Disai is second with 97.12MT. Borjan (10.00 MT), Tuensang (3.26 MT), and Tiru Valley (6.60 MT) are the other coalfields in the state. According to PIB release, the information was given by Piyush Goyal, Minister of Railways and Coal, in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha on Friday. GSI placed Nagaland third in quantity of coal inventory in the North East behind Meghalaya with 576.48 MT and Assam with 525.04 MT. Other North Eastern States with coal include Sikkim (101.23 MT) and Arunachal Pradesh (90.23 MT).
