Kohima, April 2 (DIPR): “Cleanliness is important for a healthy living,” asserted Minister for Health & Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom launching the Swachhata Pakhwada (Fortnight) at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) MD conference hall on April 2.
Stating that cleanliness plays a vital role in preventing many environment and health related diseases, Pangnyu maintained that cleanliness is important for environmental development besides health and spiritual development.
“Cleanliness should start from the kitchen, the family and the individual,” he further stated urging all to maintain personal hygiene in order to defend and keep oneself away from various viruses and infections.
The minister also encouraged doctors and nurses to start cleanliness drive at hospitals, dispensaries and health centres, maintaining that the same will set a good example for the public to live a healthier and cleaner life. He concluded his speech by reading out the twelve Swachhata pledge.
National Health Mission, Nagaland is celebrating Swachhata Pakhwada (Cleanliness Fortnight) for 15 days (April 1-15) with an aim to promote cleanliness fortnight, said Nodal Officer Swachh Bharat & Additional Director, DH&FW, Dr. Tokuhu Chishi.
‘Swachhata Se Siddhi’ would be the tagline of Swachhata Pakhwada, 2018, he noted, adding through the Swachhata Pakhwada, NRHM will consider setting up permanent mechanism through various programmes and schemes.
Cleanliness fortnight encourages all in bringing up new idea, innovative structures and mechanism.
