Kohima, April 12 (MExN): The Department of Horticulture, Nagaland organised a felicitation programme for the newly inducted Minister for Horticulture and Women Resource Development, Salhoutuonuo Kruse on April 12.
While commenting the Horticulture Department for ‘working very hard and doing good work for the farmers,’ the Minister urged the officers and staff to gear themselves up to work harder, ‘so as to bring up and uplift our people and farmers.’
Kruse urged the Department not to bear the misconception that being a woman, she will always think and stand only for women but that she hoped and aimed to do what is best for both man and woman alike. The Minister also informed that she will be visiting the office and hold interactions with the officers and staff to get a clearer picture of the department.
Anenla T Sato, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, Women Resource Development & Horticulture expressed optimism that with the support from everyone, many concepts will materialise under the Minister’s guidance and leadership.
‘As a front runner among the Agri & Allied Departments, the Department had helped in popularising the State even in the recently concluded G20,’ Sato stated.
She advised the Department to identify the gaps and lapses, also identify potential crops and motivate the farmers to produce the niche crops so that the State’s economy can be uplifted. Further, she spoke on the need to commercialise various horticultural products.
Earlier, Meyasashi, Head of Department delivered the welcome address; PowerPoint of the departmental activities were presented by Program Officers, District Horticulture Officers, Establishment in-charge and DDO. The programme was chaired by Medemshiba, Joint Director while vote of thanks was pronounced by Ayieno Hibo, Joint Director.
