Nagaland to host Rotary District Conference

Dimapur, January 7 (MExN): Rotary Club of Dimapur is organising the 26th Rotary District Conference ‘Hornbill.’ The event will be held from January 8 to 10 at Urban Hatt, Dimapur. The inaugural programme will start at 3:00 pm. The Rotary District Conference will host more than 1500 delegates from various parts of the country for the first time in Nagaland.   ‘Hornbill’ a three day event under the Chairmanship of Rtn (Dr) D R Sharma will witness a wide range of programmes with eminent speakers from various parts of the Country deliberating on various social, spiritual and motivational  topics. Further focus will be laid on various flagship social projects of Rotary during the business sessions.   “Hornbill as the name suggests has been crafted to reflect the rich Cultural heritage of Nagaland,” said the Host President Rtn. Temsusenla Kichu.  

A host of entertainment and cultural programmes comprising of internationally acclaimed artists including Tetseo Sisters, Alobo Naga, Abiogenesis (Moa & Aren) Band, Chakhesang Naga Group and National Band ‘Dhwani’ will be performing at the Conference. A special Fashion Show Choreographed by Esther Jamir will also be presented.   The Host Club Conference Committee headed by DG Chandu Agarwal, Chairman Rtn (Dr) D. R. Sharma and Host Club President Rtn Temsusenla Kichu, at a press conference in Rotary centre Midland appealed to the Citizens of Nagaland to provide warm welcome and best of hospitality to the delegation of the Conference, as it has been our tradition in Nagaland.   Conference Chairman further thanked the Government of Nagaland, Department of Handloom and Handicraft, District Administration, Dimapur Municipal Corporation, Police department and various local organisations for providing the support and all possible help in conducting the Mega Event.   Rotary is an International organisation spread across 200 Countries, 35000 Clubs and more than 1.25 Million members. Rotary club of Dimapur Chartered in the year 1972 is the oldest Club of the state of Nagaland. RID 3240 comprises of entire north east and parts of Bengal upto Santinekatan with 79 Clubs and about 3000 Members. DG Chandu Agarwal from Rotary Club of Dimapur for the first time from Nagaland has been appointed as the Leader of the District for the year 2015-2016.
