Supongmeren addressing the public meeting held at Phek Town on April 9.

Phek, April 10 (MExN): Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) President and INC candidate for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, S Supongmeren Jamir on Tuesday expressed disappointment over Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for not maintaining the regional identity and defending BJP.

Speaking at the public meeting at Phek Town on April 9 last, Jamir said that Rio should refrain from acting like a BJP spokesperson giving justification on its behalf. He stated that NDPP should champion the cause of regionalism and not otherwise.

Jamir also said that the serial lists of the party symbol in the EVM was “erroneous because NDPP a regional party symbol came first and then the INC and so on,” stated an update released by Rilo Therie, General Secretary (Media & Adm), Phek District Congress Committee (PDCC).  He felt that National Party Symbols should be on top according the Peoples Representative Act under Section 38, 1951. Therefore, NDPP being a regional party should not come first, he said adding that the NPCC has lodged a complaint in this regard.

Jamir said that given the opportunity he will do his duty to fulfill the commitment as given in the manifesto of INC.”

He also asked the GBs and VCCs to condemn the Deputy CM Y Patton’s rhetoric asking them to coup or vote on behalf of the people and send them to fields for cultivation.

Er Meshenlo Kath, Co-convenor Public Grievance Department NPCC, Zhakhosa Nienu, NPYC secretary, Vaprumo Demo, ex- INC candidate and Vekholii Wozah, president Phek District Mahila Congress Committee also spoke at the programme.
