Advisor for Department of Labour, Employment, Skills and Excise, Moatoshi Longkumer graced the third day of the ongoing Nagaland International Trade Expo (NITex) at Senden Riju, Purana Bazar, Dimapur on January 20. 

Based on his interactions and observations of the expo, the Advisor while interacting with the media, opined that it was an impressive feat on the part of the Business Association of Nagas (BAN) and other co-partners for organising such an event. He also appreciated the organisers for creating the platform aimed at promoting the state’s entrepreneurs. 

On the part of the youths, he stressed on the need for them to work hard, be tenacious and consistent in their efforts irrespective of the trade or profession they are engaged in. As far as the challenges were concerned in regard to business and entrepreneurial prospects, the Advisor highlighted that Nagaland has limited resources in terms of production and output, so individuals should know how to judiciously utilize them in a sustainable manner. On being queried about the price rates of products at the expo, Longkumer noted that the cost of each item should be also considered keeping in mind the choices of the customers nevertheless, he added there were promising startups in the state. 

The Advisor was also questioned on the issue of the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act which he opined was not in his prerogative to say whether it should be lifted or not. At the same however, he viewed that the impact would be apparent as the sale of spurious liquor would “automatically vanish.” In addition, the liquor joints operating in the bordering region of Lahorijan would stop as well, he said. 

The trade expo is expected to conclude on January 22.
