Kiphire, November 2 (MExN): Director, Information & Public Relations, Limawati Ao visited Pungro Information Centre under Kiphire District on November 1. A DIPR report stated that during his visit, he interacted with the staff and apprised the problems and grievances faced by the department while discharging duties. To which he assured them that the matters will be taken into consideration for examination. He also urged the staff to be sincere and consider their job as the first priority.
He expressed appreciation to Information Assistant, Akiuba who retired on October 31 after attaining the superannuation in good health. He described him as a sincere and dedicated employee who had rendered his best services for the department in general and the people of Pungro in particular. He also urged him to continue guiding and supporting the new incumbent in performing duties.
On the occasion, the Director not only interacted with the staff but also provided necessary equipment and asked them to utilize it for the welfare of the public. He also added that Pungro has enough staff to perform duties as compared to that of other information Centres. As such, he requested the staff to be proactive in reporting news & events happening in their place. Stressing on the importance of media, he said that people take serious about the issues only as and when it is publicized in the newspapers.
Therefore, he reminded them to keep reporting in the form of news rather than disseminating through other medium such as whatsapp or facebook. He further said that the impact of media in sensitizing and creating awareness to the public cannot be undermined. “Development does not mean only donating money or bringing infrastructural development but it also includes providing the right information to the people at the right time.”
Retiring Information Assistant, Akiuba while delivering his farewell speech thanked the Almighty God for giving him good health and reached the retirement age. He also thanked the Director and his subordinate Officers for being responsive and supportive throughout his service career. He also requested the Director to deploy an educated and experience incumbent in his place citing Pungro as an important sub-division under Kiphire district.
Chairman, Pungro Village Council, Y. Chipong and his colleagues also interacted with the Director during his visit and expressed their gratitude for visiting Pungro sub-Division. While interacting, the Director asked them to cooperate with the Department of IPR personnel since no other reporters posted in the Sub-Division to report the news and events occurring in their area.
The Director was accompanied by DPRO Kiphire, K. Zeliang, APRO Nongozo Rikha and staff of DPRO Kiphire.
The Director Information and Public Relation, Limawati Ao visited District Public Relation office, Kiphire on November 2. During his visit he interacted with the staff of DPRO and asked them to be more sincere diligent in performing their duties. He said that the department was set up by the Government not to employ people but to help public in the form of disseminating news and events occurring in their area. The Director also provided necessary equipment to the office and asked them to utilize properly for the welfare of the people while interacting with the staffs, they also informed about the shortage of staffs in the office. Director assured that he will look into the matter in course of time.
During his visits, he also inspected the quarters owned by the department and had an interaction with the land owners. The Director was accompanied by the APRO Nongozo Rikha.
