Kohima, January 27 (DIPR): Chief Secretary of Nagaland, Pankaj Kumar, IAS inaugurated the Business Process Outsourcing (centre) at the Directorate building of IT&C on January 27.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Secretary expressed his appreciation to the Department of IT&C for the first phase of business process outsourcing which, he said, is very important for the young people of the State. He urged and encouraged the upcoming generation to join the IT sector in a big way.
Stressing on the importance of BPO, he said that the first job of the Department is to get this project going on and also assured that he would request the Government of India to have a special consideration for the north eastern states in general and the state of Nagaland in particular. He conveyed his best wishes to the Department for venturing a new project and wished the BPO a successful one.
Commissioner & Secretary IT&C, KD Vizo in his keynote address stated that Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), often called call centre, is a process of contacting the operations and responsibilities of a specific business process to a third party service. It is normally categorized into back office outsourcing which includes internal business functions such as human resources, finance or accounting and front office outsourcing which includes customer related services such as contact centre services.
He also added that, under the Digital India Programme, the Government of India has launched the North east BPO promotion scheme (NEBPS) to promote BPO industry in north eastern region and prime objective of this scheme is to create job opportunities for the youth and also to attract involvement for all round development. This NEBPS scheme is meant to create the right eco-system required for in growth of small towns and the Nagaland State e-Governance society (NSeGS) which is functioning under the Department of IT&C had grabbed this opportunity by forming a consortium with M/S Infinity Informatic Pvt. Limited to bring the single largest BPO in North eastern region with 400 seats.
He further said that, in Nagaland, the presence of large talented English speaking youth who can deliver service at par with global standards and with support of highly respected senior officers to support us and feel that our youths who are second to none will now get a chance to work in global environment by staging in our own state.
