
Kohima, August 18 (MExN): The Governor of Assam and Nagaland, Prof Jagdish Mukhi has extended warm greetings to the people celebrating Janmashtami.
The Governor said that Janmashtami is the celebration of the birth, life and teachings of Lord Krishna and is celebrated across the country with traditional fervour and enthusiasm. “Let us imbibe the festival's message of love, compassion and selfless service and work together to take our great nation forward,” he stated. Prof Mukhi also urged everyone to follow COVID appropriate behaviours at all times.
The Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton has greeted the devotees of Lord Krishna on the occasion of Janmasthami. It is celebrated all over India with much fun and fervour, enacting the childhood days and life of Lord Krishna. On behalf of the state BJP legislators, the Dy CM and BLP leader sent festive greetings and hoped that the celebrations will bring peace and harmony to one and all.
The Governor also conveyed Hunapongpi greetings to the people of Nagaland especially to the Sangtam brothers and sisters.
He said that the celebrations of Hunapongpi express affection and care for one another. Children are the prominent participants in this festival whereby they learn to preserve the beautiful culture displayed in the form of folk songs, dances and traditional sports. It provides an opportunity to understand and appreciate the beauty of the underlying ancient philosophies of the community.
“On this auspicious occasion I wish you all happiness, good health and prosperity,” he added.
The NSCN (R) Akato Chophi led in their Hunapongpi greetings to the Sangtam Nagas stated that this festival showcases the vibrant culture of the Sangtam community and also reflects harmony and peaceful coexistence. “The NSCN wishes the very best to the Sangtam brothers and sisters to continue to dwell in prosperity, wealth and good health, and to foster unity and goodwill among Naga family so as to bring forth the essence of peace and harmony,” it added.
