Nagaland joins nation-wide Clean India Mission

Dimapur, October 2 (MExN): Several government institutions and NGOs in the state conducted cleanliness drive under ‘Swachhata Hi Seva.’  

ICAR Medziphema: ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Medziphema, Nagaland Centre organised Swachhta Pakhwada programme in five different villages involving students of GMS, GPS at Khanakhuru, Seithekima A and Molvom village, Medziphema and Kukidolong. Over 850 beneficiaries participated in the programme.  

The participants were demonstrated on the importance of hygiene and sanitation. Tips were given to convert the biomass or farm wastes into compost or Vermicompost, which can be utilised in kitchen garden, in flower pots and in fruit plants. Dustbins were also donated to schools for separating bio-degradable and non biodegradable waste. A drawing competition was organized in four schools and the winners were given prizes. On September 29, KVK Dimapur officials along with contractual workers cleaned near the NH-29. On September 29, all the ICAR Staff on the appeal of Zaleo Rio, Deputy Speaker, Nagaland Assembly (Retd. IAS) joined the cleanliness drive at Medziphema, local ground and worked at NU road.  

Longmatra EAC Hq: Minister Soil and Water Conservation, Geology & Mining NSMDC Nagaland, V. Kashiho Sangtam took part in the social work at Longmatra EAC Hq with citizens and department staff on October 1. The Minister addressed a brief function. Yangsekyu, DB Longmatra also spoke on the occasion, Sangpangchang EAC who chaired the programme also welcomed the gathering.  

MARCOFED: The employees of the office of MARCOFED and Jt. Registrar (ARDC), Dimapur together observed the Swachh Bharat mission by conducting a cleanliness drive on October 1 around their office premises near Fire Brigade, Burma Camp, led by Dr. M. Chuba Ao, Chairman, MARCOFED Ltd.  

Nagaland Zoological Park: The Nagaland Zoological Park Residential Colony conducted social work on September 29 and October 1 with the zoo area starting from the parking to the enclosure. Members of Forestry Graduates Association (FGSN) and personnel of 1st NAP posted at Nagaland Zoological Park joined the staff for the social work.  

SRDF Home Guards and Civil Defence: Personnel of the SRDF Home Guards and Civil Defence cleaned up a clogged drain along IM Road near MTBA on October 1as part of the Swachh Bharat Week in Mokokchung. About 100 personnel from the SRDF, MMC, PWD (R&B), PWD (Mechanical), PWD (NH), UDO and district administration participated in the works today where two of the main clogged drains at Daily Market and IM Road were cleaned up. Nagaland PWD Minister Tongpang Ozukum was seen inspecting the clean up exercise.  

Indisen bags Cleanest Village Award: Dimapur District led by District administration successfully conducted cleanliness drive from September 29 to October 2. A culmination programme was held at DC Conference Hall on October 2, DC Dimapur, Sushil Kumar Patel. Cleanest village/ward Award was won by Indisen village, Duncan Bosti and Kuda Village B khel as 1st, 2nd & 3rd respectively who were awarded cash prizes during the programme.  

Tuensang: As part of Swachhata Hi Seva programme, DC office Tuensang, PD, DRDA, NSCB and DEO donated dustbins. DC Tuensang, Branch Manager NSCB, and PD, DRDA participated in the cleanliness drive.  

NCSU: Nagaland Contractors’ & Suppliers’ Union (NCSU) along with the officials and staff of National Informatics Center (NIC), Kohima District Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection who were assigned by the government to clean Secretariat road marking the occasion of Swacchata Hi Seva completed cleanliness drive today.  

Industries & Commerce: Officer and staff of the Directorate of Industries & Commerce conducted social work at the office premises on October 1.  

BWAD: Business Welfare Association Dimapur (BWAD) conducted a social work along the stretch from New Flyover Bridge till the under construction bridge connecting Purana Bazaar on October 1.  

Manav Utthan Sewa Samiti: Members of Manav Utthan Sewa Samati, Manav Kalyan Ashram Khatkhati karbi Anglong Assam Branch on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti observed ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ from Nagaland Gate to DDSC Dimapur. Around 60 people participated in the social work.  

Dimapur DCC: Dimapur District Congress Committee (DCC) organized a mass social work drive on October 2 at Super Market area, Dimapur. More than 300 congress party workers participated in the social work.

AG colony: Good Shepherd Club in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra, Kohima and AG Colony Sanitation Committee organized a cleanliness drive cum awareness campaign, on the theme, ‘Let’s strive for a litter free colony’ at AG colony Kohima. The Club cleaned the road from Mohonkhola to Department of Electricity, AG colony.  

Hindu Yuva Sanga: Hindu Yuva Sanga (HYS) organised Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in collaboration with Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) on October 2. The Convenor for the cleanliness drive, Pritam Dasgupta along with the taskforce led the team clean the polluted areas of GS Road, Dimapur.  

Woodland HSS: The students and NCC Cadets of Woodland Higher Secondary School, Zunheboto on October 1 conducted a cleanliness drive in the whole school and nearby areas. More than 200 students participated in the programme.  

Auto drivers: Joining the Swachh Bharat Mission, auto drivers in Dimapur cleaned the streets at the Nagarjan police point on September 30.  

SBI Regional Business Office: SBI Regional Business Office, Dimapur along with all the branches under Dimapur Centre has participated in Social work under the banner Swachhta Hi Seva on October 2 at Super Market area. Around 100 officers and staffs participated along with DC of Dimapur Sushil Kumar Patel and SBI Regional Manager Paogin Haokip.  

State BJP: State BJP Minority Morcha President Rajiv Jha and its team organised a social work on cleanliness drive at High school junction and BOC area at Kohima October 2. More than 70 party workers and well wisher participated in the event. Nagaland State BJP President Temjen Imna Along and Organising Secretary Ananta Mishra also took part in the cleanliness drive.  

Phek Government College: Phek Government College along with Phek Town Council and the 11 wards of Phek town organized a mass social work on October 1 coinciding with Swachata Hi Seva. The mass social work started with a brief welcome by Avelu Ruho, ADC. Principal of PGC also addressed the participants on the importance of NAAC accreditation. Nesucho Keyho, Convenor, PTPWF donated a sum of Rs 1, 10,000 to the college in view of the preparation of UGC NAAC peer team’s visit in November. Around 500 people including the students and Staff of PGC took part in the mass.  

Dimapur Bongs: Dimapur Bongs in associated with DMC and students from Kidzee School initiated cleanliness drive as a part of Swachh Bharath Abhiyaan on October 28. Under the leadership of Dimapur Bongs, President, Gopal Debnath the team cleaned the whole of Kalibari Road as allotted by DMC.  

Sainik School Punglwa: Sainik School Punglwa (SSP) organised a mass cleanliness drive in the school premises and at the neighbouring village of Punglwa on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on October 2. Gp Capt Sharad R Keskar, Principal, SPP initiated the drive followed by Cadets, staff and families.   Members of PWD Puja Committee, Dimapur and Midland Shop Owners, Dimapur also participated in Swatch Bharat cleanliness drive on October 2. Baptist Mission School Jotsoma observed 150th Birthday of Mahatma Gandhi with a theme ‘Dignity of Labour’ and organised a cleanliness drive in and around the school premises.
