Dimapur, June 5 (MExN): Creating awareness on the catastrophic consequences of plastic pollution, Nagaland state joined the global observance of World Environment Day 2023 on 5 June. This WED is a call to beat plastic pollution and focuses on solutions to plastic pollution under the campaign #BeatPlasticPollution.
Raj Bhavan: Governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan along with the officers and staffs of Raj Bhavan, Kohima and Kohima Forest Division observed WEC on the theme ‘Solution to Plastic Pollution’ at Dr Imkongliba Ao Hall, Raj Bhavan, Kohima.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that the world is overwhelmed by production of plastic and is using plastic more than it can recycle. “Most of the plastic ends up in our environment causing hazardous effects to humans, animals and nature,” he stated.
People should reduce the use of plastic in their daily lives, the Governor urged while calling upon all to reuse and also recycle the plastic wastes. He said, “The most important is to educate oneself and people around us about the harmful effects of plastic and to collectively eradicate plastic pollution.”
Earlier, the Governor launched the website “Clicktoplant” and unveiled ‘Nino’ the Mascot. He also did the first online plantation during the programme.
The Governor also gave away the prizes to the winners of the oratorical contest for school students. The 1st prize was bagged by Vimeyono from Corragio School Kohima, 2nd and 3rd were awarded Kelhouvinuo Caroline Rutsa from Living tree School, Tseiepugei and Duve Khamo from Rev Dr Neiliezhu Usuo Memorial School respectively.
The programme was attended by Chairman, EMC Touphema and, students and teachers from GHS Forest Colony, Kohima. The Governor planted a Ginkgo Bilabo tree in Raj Bhavan to mark the occasion.
NIDA: A tree plantation was organized as part of WED at Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (NIMSR), Kohima.
J Alam, Chief Secretary said, “As the forest cover is declining in the state, everybody should act fast in the interest of future generations as the ill effects of climate change are being faced by all in Nagaland too.”
On the theme ‘Beat Plastic Pollution,’ Commissioner & Secretary, Y Kikheto Sema said, “Environment is a common property and it is everyone’s responsibility to protect it.” He added that climate change is a man-made problem, and therefore people have to solve it for future generations.
On the deforestation issue in Nagaland, he said trees are disappearing and temperature is rising, leading to climate change, and according to ISFR, Nagaland had the highest decrease in forest cover during 2019-2021 of 235 sq. km and the main cause of deforestation in the state is Jhum cultivation so we should seek for an alternative form of farming. As the state government put a total ban on single-use plastic in 2019, he requested the Chief Secretary to implement it in letter and spirit.
The tree plantation was organized by Nagaland In-Service Doctors’ Association (NIDA) in collaboration with Forest Department.
Kohima: Commemorating WED, Kohima District Administration in collaboration with Züb Züb India, Nagaland Forest Department, Kohima Smart City Development Limited, and Kohima Municipal Council organised a mass cleanliness drive with a theme ‘Beat Plastic Pollution within all Wards of its Municipality under the National Clean Air Program (NCAP). DC Kohima, Shanavas C IAS flagged off the Street Cleaning of Züb Züb Your City (ZZYC) from Old MLA junction to Capital Cultural Hall and after the completion of the mass cleanliness drive, a short formal programme was held at Capital Cultural Hall, Kohima. The DC Kohima also flagged off of NCAP Promo Video. Senior Manager, Kohima Smart City Development Limited (KSCDL), Angke Konyak delivered a short speech, Founder, ZübZüb India, Pelenuo, Range Forest Officer, Pezaneinuo Chielie, KMC Administrator, Lanusenla Longkumer and others spoke during the event. 22 Schools, 19 Wards, and 48 colonies were covered under NCAP. Tree saplings were distributed to the participants.
Kiphire: Various departments came together to celebrate WED at Zisaji Presidency College with John Tsulise DC Kiphire as special guest. The DC also visited spring box construed by various departments and contour trenches construed by Land Resources department, Kiphire. Chisayi IFS, DFO Kiphire shared on Mission LiFe and Er Dichusie Pojar EE, Water Resources Department on importance of water and conservation. Dr Purna Chandra Mishra gave keynote address. Representatives from Department of Land Resources, Forest, Water Resources, Horticulture and Zisaji Presidency College took part in the programme.
Mon: District Health Society, Mon celebrated WED by organising a mass social work within the health units of the district. In commemoration of the day, the District will also roll out one weeklong campaign in some of the selected health units with the title ‘Our Earth, Our Health, Our Responsibility’ under the theme ‘Beat Plastic Pollution.’ The team of CMO office, Mon also took a pledge to take complete responsibility to reduce consumption of plastic to less than half. CMO Mon, Dr Vizokholu Theyo planted a pine tree at the office premise to mark the day.
Phek: Phek district celebrated WED under the theme ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’ at CMO office. It was also celebrated in all the health units across the district. To mark the day, the CMO office conducted a short programme which was followed by pledge reading by District Program Officers, NGOs and staff of various vertical programmes. Dr Pewezo Khalo DPO RCH/UIP delivered the keynote address, Dr Shevo Hiese, DNO for National Program for Climate Change and Human Health (NPCCHH) and Dr Limatoshi, Epidemiologist spoke on the significance of the day. A mass tree plantation drive was also conducted.
A mega trees plantation drive on WED commemorating the 50th anniversary of the formation of Phek District was organised by Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) in collaboration with Phek District Administration and undertaken by the people of the district in their villages, roadsides, and the highways. The tree plantation kick-off programme held at the DC’s Office compound was graced by Deputy Commissioner Phek, Kumar Ramnikant IAS. CPO, President, Vezuhu Keyho also spoke during the event.
Wokha: Lotha Officers Association (LOA) in collaboration with Department of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Nagaland (DEFCC) and Nagaland Empowerment of People through Economic Development (NEPED) observed WED in Wokha. Varieties of tree saplings were planted from Wokha to Yikhum village. Earlier, during A held at Public Ground Wokha, Commissioner and Secretary & TL, NEPED & President Lotha Officers Association, K Libanthung Lotha (IAS) flagged off of WED Avenue plantation and read out the Mission LIFE Pledge. DC Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan (IAS), District Anglers Wokha Nagaland President, K Mhonthung Lotha, President, Wokha Village Youth Organisation and Divisional Forest Officer, Wokha Suman W M Sivachar (IFS) also spoke during the occasion.
According to DFO, Wokha 15510 different varieties of tree saplings, including Bogipoma, Pine, Hollock, Uriam, Yonchak, Walnut, Oak, Cherry, and Alder were distributed in Wokha district for plantation by Wokha Forest Division office during WED 2023.
Naga Council Dimapur: Councillors of Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) planted about 250 tree saplings along the roadside and at New Naga Cemetery, Zani Village, Dimapur. NCD President, Etsungmomo Kikon shared on the theme ‘Beat Plastic Pollution.’ He elaborated the ill-effects of mismanagement of plastic uses by people directly on health, plants, dwelling surroundings and environment as world. He requested the councillors to take the message of ‘containing plastic pollution’ to their respective areas and colonies and put into practical action in daily life. Meanwhile, the NCD President has informed the public in general to maintain cleanliness in the cemetery while performing funeral service.
Zunheboto: Zunheboto district celebrated WED by planting tree saplings at various places like DC residence, DC office premises, District hospital, Zunheboto Government College, Government higher Secondary School, SP office etc on June 5. The mass plantation drive was led by Zunheboto DC Rahul Bhanudas Mali, IAS, along with ZAPO officials, STH, Sakhi One Center, Green Club, NYK, MSK and DC staff.
LFI: Eco Club and Yuva Tourism Club of Livingstone Foundation International (LFI) organized WED. The event was marked by a bicycle awareness rally and tree plantation drive under the theme ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’. The significance of the day was highlighted by Anna Zhimomi of Grade-XII. The bicycle rally was flagged off by LFI Director, Ani Yepthomi. Students from Grades-VI to XII took part in the bicycle rally which started from the school campus and culminated at Nagaland Zoological Park. Later, the students of Grades-I to XII along with the mentors undertook a tree plantation drive in the school campus.
Modern HSSS: Modern Higher Secondary School, Kohima observed WED under the theme ‘Solution to Plastic Pollution.’ The students and teachers participated in cleaning the nearby campus locality covering Mohonkhola, Dzüvürü area. A short programme was conducted at the school campus by Class 12 science students. Experiments were demonstrated on the toxicity of burning plastic and its hazardous effects on environment and health, followed by students and teachers undertaking the pledge.
Charis High Academy: Charis High Academy, Chümoukedima organised its annual World Environment Day Symposium on June 5. A total of nine guest schools were in attendance viz., Delhi Public School, Hollotoli School, Gonyü Memorial School, Greenwood HSS, Livingstone Foundation International School, Rincho Academy, Shalom Public School, St Joseph HSS, and St Mary’s HSS. Students showcased their innovative projects and research on the theme ‘solutions to plastic pollution.’ Competitions were conducted on debate, quiz, painting and waste makeover.
St John’s HS: Saint John’s High School, Diphupar ‘B’ observed the WED celebration by planting 10 saplings. Class 9 and 10 students led the planting drive while Class 6, 7 and 8 students participated in the activities based on the theme ‘Solution to Plastic Pollution.’
Shalom Public School: Under the campaign Beat Plastic Pollution, Ecosystem Restoration, Shalom Public School, Chümoukedima participated in the plantation drive organised in the office of Deputy Commissioner, Chümoukedima. Shalom Public School children, staff and members of the district office headed by Abhinav Shivam IAS, DC, Temsuchuba Jamir NCS, SDO(C), Chumbenthung Murry, SDO(C) and Dobashis planted saplings and also cleaned the locality.
BMS: Baptist Mission School, Jotsoma observed WED where Classes 9 and 10 students along with some teachers went for plantation drive with Puliebadze Club, Jotsoma to plant tree saplings in and around Jotsoma. Classes 1 to 8 cleaned the school campus as well as the roadside and planted flower plants. During the morning assembly, the school Headmaster highlighted on the importance of avoiding plastics as well as to follow the 5 R’s (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Repurpose). They also took the pledge to make the school campus a ‘Plastic Free Zone.’ With the help of PHE Department, BMS made 100 jute carry bags and distributed to the members of BMS Sanitation Club.
PVHSS: Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School (PVHSS), Dimapur observed WED in the Pranab Jubilee Auditorium. The programme began with the universal peace prayer, followed by a speech from Shreyashi Sarkar of Class 8. Dilip Das, assistant teacher spoke on WED theme ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’. A pledge was taken by the students and teachers to save the mother Earth and avoid non-biodegradable substance like plastic. Students displayed slogans with placards about WED.
Saint Savio High School: The observance of WED at Saint Savio High School, Chümoukedima was graced by Er Inaho P Awomi, Joint Director, New & Renewable Energy as special guest. Besides giving away the prizes for the various competitions, he also inaugurated 15 KW Solar Plant at school and felicitated HSLC 12th Batch of the school. Others who were present included Chief Engineer Rtd Njilo Kemp who is the Vice Chairman of School Managing Board, Bendangchuba, President, ANPSA, Chümoukedima Unit and his colleagues and Varkey VJ, School Managing Board Member and Headmaster of Little Flower school Chümoukedima, Seiuruzha Colony Chairman, Kenilo Rengma, Ward 8 Chairman, Kevilekho, Technical Engineer, A & D Solar, Dimapur and his team.
ICFAI University: Green Club of ICFAI University Nagaland in cooperation with Sovima Village Council organised a plantation drive celebrating the WED under the theme ‘Solutions to Plastic Pollution.’ Members from all sections including faculty and staff took part in the drive.
Immanuel College: Eco Club, Immanuel College under the theme ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’ organised a painting and slogan writings. A total of 77 students participated in the programme. The students took pledge to reduce plastic pollution and to spread awareness among the friends and families for greener environment.
Kohima Science College: Department of Geography, NCC Cell and NSS, Kohima Science College (KSC) along with Working Plan Division and Silviculture Division, Kohima under Department of Environment, Forests & Climate Change observed WED with a thrust on the Mission LiFE. Assistant Professor, Shevito Theyo and Florence T Sangtam, Forest Ranger Working Plan Division, Kohima spoke during the event. A manual book on ‘Nursery techniques of common tree species of Nagaland’ by office of Silviculture Division was hand-out to KSC to serve as a guide to students and researchers to enrich their knowledge in the field of Nursery Management. The department also contributed 200 fruit tree saplings to carry out plantation drive. Around 100 students, faculties and forest staffs participated in plantation and cleanliness drive during the event.
Nagaland Science Centre: Nagaland Science Centre, Department of Science & Technology (DoS&T) celebrated WED under the theme ‘Solutions to Plastic Pollution.’ Painting and essay competitions were conducted online from May 20 to June 1, and adjudged on June 5, whereas quiz competition and sapling plantation were held on June 5. Kuko Mero, Director, DoS&T graced the event as the guest speaker and the program was chaired by Er Onongoto Soleho, Chief Mentor, Innovation Hub & Space Education Centre, NSC. Students from AG HSS, St Mary’s HSS, Christian HSS and Pilgrim School Dimapur attended the event.
LOU DHPS: The Land Owner’s Union (LOU), Doyang Hydro Power Station observed WED 2023 in collaboration with DHPS, NEEPCO and Forest Department, Wokha with the theme ‘Single use of and plastic, beat plastic pollution.’ A plantation drive was conducted with the support of C John Zeliang, Executive Director & Head of Plant, DHPS, Khuman, Dy Manager, HR, Zajamo Ovung, Manager, o/o HOP, Senka Patton, DGM, RC Murry, DGM, Oren Odyuo, DGM and all ranks and files of DHPS. Principal VKV, staff and the students also participated in the plantation drive.
CHC Chozuba: In response to the call by CPO on a mega tree plantation drive, the CHC Chozuba observed the WED under the banner ‘Our Earth Our Health Our Responsibility’ and theme #BeatPlasticPollution. Dr Lolekhol Pucho SMO addressed the staff during the pledge programme. To mark the day, more than 10 trees were planted in the hospital surrounding areas and a mass social work was also conducted.
NDPP 5 Ghaspani-II A/C: The NDPP 5 Ghaspani-II A/C organised a tree plantation drive to commemorate WED through the initiative of Zhaleo Rio, IAS (Retd), Advisor, Urban Development & Municipal Affairs Department, Nagaland. The function was chaired by Zalenuo Suokhrie, Vice President, Women Organization, NDPP 5 Ghaspani-II A/C while Alal Doungel, Treasurer, NDPP, invoked the blessings of God. The plantation drive began with the Advisor planting a White Terminalia at Medziphema City Centre. The party workers later accomplished plantation of tree saplings at ADC office, Government Higher Secondary School Medziphema, Community Health Centre, Medziphema, Local Ground Medziphema, etc.
DEF Longleng: DEF Longleng observed WED at SP’s Office Longleng by organising tree plantation and cleanliness drive. Altogether 300 saplings were planted at SP's Office premises, New Police Reserve Hamlikong and New Site Bhumnyu. A short programme was conducted before the start of plantation drive where SP Longleng Dr Pritpal Kaur Batra, IPS emphasised on the need of environmental protection and stressed on the benefits of planting more trees for humanity and environmental conservation.
LSU: Lotha Student’s Union (LSU) celebrated WED at Chukitong where after a short programme, the union officials led by its president, Lirhonthung Kithan carried out plantation drive at LSU Park Chukitong compound. The plantation drive was carried out in collaboration with Department of Forest & Climate Change, Wokha.
BMMU Kuhuboto: Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission, BMMU Kuhuboto observed WED in collaboration with Forest Department. On the occasion, a total of 175 saplings were planted across five villages.
NAGC: Nagaland Adolescent Girls Club (NAGC) under Nagaland State Social Welfare Board observed the WED at various schools. Various activities such as tree plantation, paper bag making, cleanliness talk, essay competition and sanitation drive were carried out in their own respective schools and colonies. A total of 480 NAGC girls took part in the programme. The schools involved were Christ King HSS, Mezhür HSS, Mewi HSS, Oking Christian School, Bayavü Hill HSS, Thinuovicha Memorial HSS, Charity School, Government Middle School, L Khel and Gilgal School, Wokha.
Altrura Society: Altrura Society (AuS) celebrated WED on the theme ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’ by organising a plantation drive at Hebron HSS and North Town HSS, Chümoukedima. Saplings including fruit tree and ornamental trees were planted. Megosielie Kruse, President AuS gave a call to everyone to plant more number of saplings which will go a long way in restoring the biodiversity.
AIDA-SBI Gram Seva: ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA) - Don Bosco, implementing SBI Foundation Gram Seva programme in Dimapur, Nagaland, inaugurated the Afforestation (Jan Van) cum Park at Khriezephe village and plantation of 500 ornamental tree saplings were carried out in observance to WED. The saplings were planted across five adopted villages of Chümoukedima- Khriezephe, Diezephe, Urra, Bade & Tsithrongse. The five adopted villages with the support of Forest Department, Chümoukedima District planted the trees.
Dimapur DPDB: Commemorating WED, a massive tree plantation drive and beautification of Dimapur city was carried out by Dimapur DPDB members at different locations. This was in pursuance to the DPDB Dimapur meeting held on May 5 last. A committee headed by ADC Dimapur, Mhalo Humstoe as convenor and DFO and DHO as members identified DC court junction to Duncan, Ao Church junction Khermahal, Essar Pump to old Dhansiri bridge and supermarket junction to circuit house entrance for tree plantation and beautification. Accordingly, DFO office provided Bakul- Spanish Cherry and Ajar tree-Lagerstroemia saplings, DHO office Dimapur provided manure. As directed, all the DPDB members along with their staff brought iron tree guards to the assigned spot/area and planted the saplings and also cleaned up the garbage dumps in their designated plantation areas.
SCWS: Silas Care and Welfare Society (SCWS) observed WED on the theme #BeatPlasticPollution. The senior citizens along with some residents planted some 20 saplings in the Women's De-addiction Center, Indisen Dimapur. The program was conducted by SCWS Secretary, Rongsennuklu and Director Moarenla shared the significance of the day.
Pangthet Team: Pangthet Team, Monyakshu village commemorated WED by organising a plantation drive in and around Monyakshu village, Mon. Around 200 saplings were planted under the slogan Plant Trees Eradicate Pollution.’ Pangthet is a team of unemployed youth from Monyakshu Village under Mon district. The main objective of the team is to give a voluntary helping hand to the poor and the needy. The team has been initiating plantation drive and has organized other social activities since its inception in 2021.
GMS Chendang: WED was observed at GMS Chendang village Tuensang, organised by Department of Environmental Science and Department of Zoology, Sao Chang College (SCC). The event was marked by a seminar on ‘Solution to Plastic Pollution’, with 40 participants from School Management Committee and School Parents association. Rangbenkumla Chang, Asst Professor, Dept of Environmental Science, SCC spoke on the theme while Vidila Jing, Asst. Professor, Dept of Zoology, SCC led the plantation drive where 50 students participated. It may be noted that Alemwapang ACF (DFO Longleng) provided the saplings and Yingli Mission Society Nagaland partly sponsored the event.
GMS Pungro Village: WED was observed at GMS Pungro Village with members from WATSAN, SHG, VC, Church and SMC.
GHS Nerhema Model: Government High School Nerhema Model, Kohima observed WED under the theme ‘Beat Plastic Pollution/Solution to Plastic Pollution.’ Thejakhrielie Solo spoke on the theme and the significance of the day while Thejazelie Tase, Headmaster incharge administered the pledge to the gathering. The students participate in paper bag making followed by planting plants in the school surrounding.
GMS Bayavü: Government Middle School (GMS) Bayavü Kohima observed WED under the theme ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’ at the school premises. Neiphrelie Metha, President, Bayavü Youth Organisation exhorted the students with a message on protecting and preserving environment. The day witnessed Social work from Bayavü Gate -Census Compound-School premises, while the students also pledged on MISSION LIFE (Meri Life- Lifestyle for Environment). Meanwhile, the students also took part in the programme organised by Kohima district administration with Zub Zub while some participated in the programme organised by SoCRAN Focus Nagaland.
GHSS Meluri: GHSS Meluri organised WED by conducting cleanliness drive and tree plantation within the school premises. The event was held on the theme ‘Solutions of Plastic Pollution under the campaign #BeatPlasticPollution’ with Tiatemsu Aier, Principal as the speaker. Programme Officer, Rhutsomu Pfithu delivered on significance of the day. The whole school pronounced an ‘Environmental Pledge’ and also planted ornamental trees, fruit trees and flowers.
Mokokchung: Celebrating WED, a special programme under the theme ‘rejuvenation of springs & water bodies’ was held at Longkotsung, Mokokchung village, organised by Mokokchung District Planning & development Board (DPDB) with initiatives from Department of Forest, Rural development, Water resources, Soil & Water Conservation, Land Resources and PHED.
During the programme, Advisor, Water Resources and Chairman Mokokchung DPDB, Tongpang Ozukum mentioned that according to the data from Land Resources Department, Mokokchung district get 2066 mm of rainfall annually “but due to our inability to harvest this rain water we are dependent on Springs such as Longkotsung for our requirements.” In this connection, he suggested on coming up with an inventory of all springs and ponds in the district which will be helpful in coming up with model spring shed management in different parts of the district.
He also opined the need to form a committee of the Allied department along with the District Administration to monitor project taken by concern departments relating to rejuvenation of springs and water bodies in the districts.
Earlier, keynote address was delivered by Dr Sashiyangba, DPO Land Resources, Mokokchung. A field demonstration on different methods adopted for springs and Water Bodies rejuvenation was conducted by Roukuosietuo Dzuvichu, DSCO, Mokokchung.
In another programme, National Programme on Climate Change & Human Health (NPCCHH) under Department of Health & Family Welfare, Mokokchung conducted walkaton cum cyclothon under the theme ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’ on account of WED.
The event was flagged off by Dr Kibangkumba, CMO Mokokchung, followed by a short awareness programme with Dr limanaro DPO (NCD) as the facilitator. The participants also took a pledge to reduce plastic use as well as management of plastic waste and to make all possible changes in daily life to protect the environment.
Representatives from Naga Students Clean Federation (NSCF), Run Mokokchung, MTBA Youth Ministry, Christ Church, Cyclist from ‘The Gear Thrills and staffs from office of CMO Mokokchung participated during the event.
Meanwhile, the Eco Friendly Club Dr IMDH Mokokchung observed WED at Dr Imkongliba Ao Monument Garden, IMDH with Moamongba, Asst. Conservator of Forest Mokokchung Division as the keynote speaker. The programme was followed by plantation of plants saplings.
Sanitation and WSSO: Sanitation and WSSO, PHED observed WED on the theme ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’ at Ara Mile, Dimapur. A brief programme with emphasis to the 3Rs – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle was held where Er Ichirang Zeliang, Executive Engineer, Sanitation & WSSO, PHED gave a brief introduction. Ashort speech was delivered by Ado Bizo, Chairman, Darogapathar Village Council and the keynote address on WED was delivered by Sachin Jaiswal (IAS) DC, Dimapur. Caps, Reusable Tote bags, dustbins and brooms were distributed to the participants during the programme.
The programme was followed by a mass social work along the stretch of Highway besides Dimapur Airport involving the Dimapur District Administration, Airport Authority Dimapur, Darogapathar and Aoyimti Village Councils and Youth members, Business Community, Students of St Joseph University, Love Care Home, Child Care institution, Implementing Support Agency (ISA) Act of Kindness Society, Team Better Dimapur, 43 Assam Rifles, Puranan Bazar and Officers and Staffs of PHED.
DEC: Dimapur Electrical Circle observed WED at Electrical Complex, Full Nagarjan by planting seedlings provided by DFO Dimapur.
The function was graced by Er Lanu Toy Chief Engineer Rtd. (first Chief Engineer of Power Department Nagaland). Er Lanu Toy who was instrumental in the set up, back then in 1966, of the present Electrical Complex. A press release received here stated that Er Toy recalled that the Sub-station capacity started with 40 MVA transformer, then increased to 60 MVA and at present it is upgraded to 200 MVA transformer capacity. “As the need for power increases, problem increases and hence sufficient, adequate, uninterrupted and cheap power should be provided and avoidable loss should be avoided,” he noted.
Engineer in Chief Power, Moa Aier said that upgradation of Lineman Training Centre to Nagaland Power Training Institute is in pipeline where training for officers and well as both establishment and technical staffs will be incorporated.
Chief Engineer (T&G), Penrithung Yanthan stated that many officers and staff occupy government quarter and does not maintain the building. Some even misuse the government property by privatizing it. This practice is not healthy as the government servants enjoy the benefits at most.
Chief Engineer (D&R), Tiameren Walling said that the power department is also a contributor to global warming through thermal power plants and hence more hydro power plant and solar plants should be encouraged to compensate the damage.
