Kohima, September 29 (MExN): The Kohima Law College Students’ Union (KLCSU) annual magazine was released by President of Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organisation (NVCO) and Assistant Professor Kezhokhoto Savi at Kohima Law College on September 28.

NVCO Press & Media Cell stated in a press release while releasing the magazine Savi said that Right to Information Act 2005 (RTI) was one of the main topics during the 2019 legal literacy and awareness for social justice. “Awareness is still lacking and the education of this Act is more important in the villages of Nagaland where more disclosure is required in various schemes, VDB, projects, BPL, LADP schemes, PDS, MGNREGA or government funding meant for villages,” he stated.

Savi urged the law students to encourage villagers to come forward without any fear to seek information through RTI application to obtain detail information related to various schemes or government funding meant for villages and constituency development.

“No authority can stop any citizen/villager from seeking information through RTI Act,” he stated while adding that the ignorance of RTI is being exhibited by the fact that some village councils impose fines on citizens who seek information through the RTI.”
