Following the Prime Minister’s concept of ‘Aspirational Districts,’ Nagaland Government has come out with the idea of ‘Aspirational Blocks.’
While Kiphire is under 117 districts identified for rapid transformation under the centre’s 'Transformation of Aspirational Districts' programme, the ‘Aspirational Blocks’ will be selected from the remaining 10 Districts.
As many as 117 districts have been identified for rapid transformation programme.
It was one of the proposal adopted by the Nagaland State Cabinet under the “Kiphire Declaration” the first-ever special Cabinet Meeting held in Kiphire on November 9.
Several other proposals were also adopted at the first-ever cabinet meeting held outside state capital Kohima.
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju also attended the special meeting.
Under the resolution ‘Good Governance & Infrastructure,’ apart from aspirational blocks, the cabinet also promised to augment the “water supply to all district towns to meet the demand for the next 25 years."
On healthcare, the state cabinet decided to made available medical professionals in all rural areas “with strict enforcement of policy for serving in rural areas.”
There will be “GPS mapping of all health centres with details of personnel,” stated the resolution shared by the Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio in his official Twitter handle.
For development of ‘Youth,’ the declaration promised “standard playground in all districts with proper facilities” and “construction of multi-purpose indoor stadium/convention centre in all district headquarters.”
Focus on cluster-based agricultural output for augmenting farmers’ incomes was also adopted under “Agriculture & Piggery” section of the declaration.
It further promised promotion of piggery by building in-market linkages and supporting feed producing units.
Kiphire focus
Meanwhile, the meeting also adopted to create a Corpus Fund of Rs. 1 crore to meet developmental gaps of Kiphire District.
To facilitate connectivity, the declaration also decided to provide 2 JCB machines at Sitimi-Seyochung and Pungro.
The helicopter services to Kiphire will be “thrice a week helicopter service with the availability of the second helicopter,” informed the declaration.
