Kohima, November 13 (MExN): The Nagaland-leg of the car rally organised by the National Cadet Corps (NCC), North Eastern Region (NER), was flagged off by Lt Gen HS Sahi, General Officer Commanding 3 Corps from Rangapahar Military Station, Dimapur on November 12. 

The rally is part of the NCC’s commemoration of its 75th Raising Day this year, as per a press release from the PRO Defence, Kohima. 

Led by the Additional Director General (ADG), Maj Gen Gagan Deep, the car rally was first flagged off from Shillong on November 6 and will culminate in Guwahati on November 26, covering a distance of 3500 kilometres across six North-East states, it said.

A total of 26 cadets with equal representation of boys and girls from all groups of NER Directorate along with their instructors are participating in the car rally, it added. 

Addressing the cadets before the flag off, Corps Commander Lt Gen Sahi lauded the contribution of NCC in nation-building. He also interacted with the cadets participating in the car rally and explained the importance of the role of youth in nation-building, the release said. 

Maj Gen Deep also emphasised that the aim of the rally was to instil a sense of camaraderie, leadership, a spirit of sportsmanship and adventure and imbibe the spirit of patriotism amongst the youth and uphold the values of NCC. 

Post the flag off from 3 Corps Headquarters at Rangapahar, the rally made a pit stop at Eastern Christian College, Dimapur, where the ADG interacted with 450 cadets, 18 ANOs from Dimapur. 

The General Officer inaugurated the state-of-the-art Flying simulator aircraft of 1 Nagaland Air squadron NCC installed at the college premises of Eastern Christian College. 

He also expressed his happiness at the inauguration of the flying simulator as it would certainly increase understanding of various intricacies of flying before commencing actual flying by the cadets of 1 NL Air Wing NCC, the release added. 

The rally reached the state capital Kohima and was flagged in by Maj Gen Vikas Lakhera, IG Assam Rifles (North).
