
Dimapur, November 27 (MExN): The Ballia Police busted a gang involved in purchasing weapons from arms shops in Uttar Pradesh allegedly on the basis of fake arms licenses. The police also found a nexus between the gang and licensed dealers of arms shops in the Ballia district. The weapons were allegedly supplied to naxalites. Police has arrested 11 persons, including six licensed arms dealers, in this connection. According to a news report filed by Sahara Samay from Lucknow, it was mentioned that the gang had links in Bihar, Nagaland and Jammu and Kashmir from where it procured fake arms licenses, said police. “The gang might have supplied arms to Maoists and other anti-social elements,” Ballia Superintendent of Police Amitabh Thakur said. SP Thakur said the fake licenses were procured from criminals operating in other states.
