Dimapur, July 10 (MExN): Nagaland reported 111 new COVID-19 cases out of 1,406 samples that were tested on Saturday, with a daily positivity rate of 7.89 percent.
The new cases were reported from ten districts—Kohima (51), Dimapur (19), Tuensang (10), Mokokchung (9), Zunheboto (8), Kiphire (4), Longleng (3), Wokha (3), Peren (2), and Mon (2).
As per the daily bulletin issued by the state Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme, a total of 67 cases were detected during self tests and random tests, 33 from traced contacts, 7 from returnees/travellers, and 2 each from armed forces/ security personnel and front line workers.
The COVID death toll in the state remained at 493 with no fatalities reported in the last 24 hours. Besides the COVID-19 related deaths, a total of 14 deaths were categorised as ‘not COVID-19 related’ in the IDSP bulletin.
On the other hand, 111 patients who had previously tested positive for the virus recovered on Saturday, taking the number of recovered cases to 23,698. The recoveries were reported Kohima (48), Dimapur (23), Peren (22), Mokokchung (8), Phek (6), and Tuensang (4).
With this, the active case count in the state now stands at 973 and the cumulative tally of infections in the state at 25, 898.
District wise status
Among the districts, Kohima has the highest number of active cases at 298, followed by Dimapur with 251 and Mokokchung with 222. Mon district has 39 active cases, Phek (32), Zunheboto (30), Kiphire (26), Wokha (24), Tuensang (21), Peren (19), and Longleng (11).
For data reporting, Noklak district comes under the Tuensang district as there is no separate surveillance unit for Noklak.
In terms of severity of cases, 781 active cases were asymptomatic, 128 were mild symptomatic, 29 were moderate on oxygen, 19 were severe on oxygen, 7were in ICU (without ventilator) and 9 were in ICU on ventilator, according to the IDSP.
