Nagaland: Lok Adalat disposes 576 cases amounting to over four crore

Kohima, September 11 (MExN): Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority conducted the 3rd Quarterly National Lok Adalat in all the 11 district headquarters on September 11. 

The combined figure for cases taken up and tried before the jurisdiction of the Lok Adalat climbed  to 1113 cases and after pervasive efforts put up by the presiding officers and conciliators, at the end of the day the Lok Adalat forum could attain a total of 576 disposed cases or disputes settled. 

“Settlement money involved in the 576 cases amounted to Rs 4,86,00,875 (Rupees Four crore, Eighty six Lakhs, eight hundred seventy five). Most of the cases dealt on Bank recovery and MACT cases,” informed a press release from NSLSA PRA, Ketholeno Neihu.

The Lok Adalat was organized by respective district legal services. Lok Adalat is one of the alternative dispute redressal mechanisms, and a forum where cases pending in the court of law or at pre-litigation stage are settled or compromised speedily and amicably. National Lok Adalat is held on a quarterly basis and has benefited the citizens with the privilege of settling disputes at free of cost all across the State.
