DC Kohima informs
Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, W. Honje Konyak has stated that convoy of not more than three vehicles shall be permitted for the political parties as per instructions from the Election Commission of India. In case of necessity for movement of more than three vehicles, the vehicles should be segregated into different groups.

Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, W. Honje Konyak has stated that whoever defaces any property in public view by writing or marking with ink, chalk, paint or any other matter except for the purpose indicating the name and address of the owner or occupier of such property, shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months or with fine which may extend one thousand rupees or with both.

‘Defacement’ includes impairing or interfering with the appearance or beauty, damaging disfiguring, spoiling, injuring in any other whatsoever and the word ‘deface’ shall be construed accordingly. ‘Property’ includes any building hut structure, wall, fence, post, pole or any other erection. ‘Writing’ includes decoration, lettering, ornamentation produced by stencil.

Prog on SVEEP held at Meluri
An Awareness Programme on Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) was held at Meluri Town Hall organized by the Office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner Meluri.  K. Fürhesie, SDO (C) Meluri said  the programme (SVEEP) had been adopted by the Election Commission of India (ECI)which  mainly emphasizes on  free, clean and fair elections. The activities and implementation of strategies were adopted for enrolling young voters and ensuring their participation in the electoral process .He also said that the main objective of the Programme was targeted to ensure clean and fair election for the up-coming Lok Sabha. He also added that distribution of liquor and money and bribing with the electoral votes are considered signs of corruption and thus a serious crime. He also encouraged the students to have a sincere participation in election for the achievements of a better society in the days to come.

ADC Meluri, John Tsülise Sangtam also gave a short speech on (SVEEP) programme. He also stressed that for a systematic voting; firstly the Electoral Roll should be need and clean. He requested the Church leaders to take up this programme in their Churches which would further create awareness.

Earlier in the programme, an essay competition was held for the students with 35 participants from three schools under Meluri with the topic “Mal practices in the Process of Election in Nagaland & Participation of the Youth in the Electoral Process”. Rapitho of St. Xavier Hr. Sec. School bagged away the first prize. The second &third prizes also went to Rhosievi & Chitshiitho of   St. Xavier Hr. Sec. School respectively. The Programme was chaired by EAC Meluri C.Phuniang and Church leaders, teachers and students alike attended the same.

SVEEP campaign at Jakhama 
As part of the SVEEP campaign the Kohima District Core Committee for Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation in collaboration with the department of Information & Public Relations would be organising a programme on SVEEP at DB’s Court SDO (C) Officer Jakhama on 3rd April 2014 at 10:30 a.m. Therefore all the villages under Jakhama sub-division are requested to send two representatives each from VCC, Women Organisation, Youth and GBs without fail. In the function SDO (C) Jakhama Sungti Jamir will highlights the importance of SVEEP campaign and the programme will be chaired by Metevizo Sothu, IA Jakhama.

SVEEP campaign at Ghathashi
Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign for Lok Sabha 2014 was held on 31st March 2014 in Ghathashi and Pughoboto sub-division led by Assistant Public Relations Officer (APRO) Pughoboto Tialemba, assisted by Teacher, Hevito Y.Swu.

While initiating the SVEEP campaign programme APRO Pughoboto explains the ethical voting, informed electoral participation and vote education. Delivering the campaign note, he called upon the voters to create awareness to enhance electoral participation so that the people of the village know their rights and exercise it. Emphasizing on the need for clean election, he urged the people to take note of the ethical means of voting, correct electoral roll and right census. Encouraging the church leaders, he requested NBCC, NCRC and Catholic Association to instruct its church to deliver 1 or 2 sermons on Sundays on clean electoral roll, ethical and free voting for parliamentary elections 2014.

Further, he said that the Election Commission of India (ECI) introduced SVEEP so that the voters got to know dos and don’ts of its election and future generation will free from corruptions. All the young and old was asked to cast their precious vote and make change the future. Announcing the jingles of ethical voting Messages programme for SVEEP Campaign was concluded. 

Dimapur to launch SVEEP

The Dimapur District Core Committee for Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) in collaboration with the Department of Information and Public Relation would be launching the SVEEP Campaign. The SVEEP programme has been adopted in other to facilitate and enhance ethical and informed electoral participation.

Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Hushili Sema (IAS) will officially flag off the SVEEP campaign at the office premises on 2nd April 2014 at 9:00 a.m. The mobile team will began its first campaign from Medziphema subdivision .The team would also visit Chumukedima, Niuland, Dhansiripar and Dimapur town.

General observer visits Longleng
The General Observer, Election Commission of India held a meeting with all the committees/teams constituted for the ensuing Lok Sabha election 2014 on 31st March 2014 at DC’s Conference Hall, Longleng. During the meeting he enquired about security arrangement, EVMs and electoral rolls in the district and he also called upon all the officers to complete all the exercise well in advance for free and fair election in the district.

DC Peren informs 
The Deputy Commissioner & DEO Peren, Peter Lichamo has informed the public during election that distributing of cash, liquor or any other item for gratification of the voters is bribery and both giving and taking bribe is a punishable offense with imprisonment up to one year and fine. Flying Squads have been formed under each Police Station to keep watch over distribution of cash, liquor and other items in the Constituencies during the election.

It is appealed to all that anybody carrying exceeding 50,000 of cash in any Constituency during the elections should produce following documents to show the source and end-use of such cash in order to avoid seizure by the Flying Squads: PAN Card and a copy of the same, (if any); Business registration certificate copy (if any); Copy of Bank Pass Book/bank statement, showing withdrawal of cash; Copy of the cash book, in case of business involving cash transactions and Evidence for end - use of the cash, like marriage invitation, hospital admission etc.

Clean election campaign in Peren
The Clean Election Campaign for forthcoming Lok Sabha Election 2014 and to create awareness for conduct of free and fair Election was held at Peren Baptist Church organised Zeme Baptist Church Council on 1st April 2014. Izietcilung ES ZBCC spoke on the concept of Clean Election Campaign in the District and the value of vote in the Election. He urged the part icipant and Church Leaders to have a clean conscious when voting for a candidate and said that church leaders have an important role to play. He also encouraged the people to vote and stop selling their vote for money and restrain proxy voting in the Election. Earlier the Peren Pastor Haiku Nza read out the resolution and interaction hour was held during theprogramme.

DC  Zbto  informs  
Deputy Commissioner & ARO Zunheboto, L. Akato Sumi has informed all the government employees drafted for election duty under Zunheboto district that the 3rd phase training for polling personnel will be held on 4th April for the Presiding and 1st Polling Officials and 5th April for the 2nd and 3rd polling at 10 a.m. at District Cultural Hall and not as notified earlier. The DC further stated that failing to attend the training will be viewed seriously.
