The DC and District Election Officer Kohima W. Honje Konyak gave a final briefing to the selected Micro- Observer and videographer/photographer for the different polling station and building location for Kohima district today that is 7-04-2014 in its conference Hall. Briefing the 25 Micro-Observer and 19 videographer/photographers for the 16th General Election Lok Sabha in Kohima District, DC W.Honje Konyak highlighted on the importance of role and duties of the assigned Officials and apprised the Observer to maintain silence and to record confidentially during the process of polling day. He stated that both the Micro-Observer and videographer/photographer Officials were appointed under the provisions of section 159 of the Representation of the people Act 1951.

The Kohima District Core Committee in collaboration with the Dept of Information & Public Relations conducted SVEEP Campaign at Sechu (Zubza) and culminated the week long campaign on 7th April 2014 with SDO (C) Sechu Mohammad Ali, IAS as the main speaker.

The Kohima District Core Committee in collaboration with the Dept of Information & Public Relations conducted SVEEP Campaign at Sechu (Zubza) and culminated the week long campaign on 7th April 2014 with SDO (C) Sechu Mohammad Ali, IAS as the main speaker.
Speaking at the programme, the SDO (C) highlighted on the importance and necessity of registration of names in electoral roll, for casting and counting of votes and declaration of results in election. He said casting of votes is the most crucial phase as we decide our future based on our voting. He urged all the participants irrespective of gender who have attained the age of 18 years to exercise their adult franchise in the forthcoming parliamentary elections. He said ballot is the most important weapon as one single vote would make a difference as such it is mandatory and one’s responsibility to be a game changer in any elections.
Earlier the team had visited administrative Headquarters like Tseminyu, Jakhama and Chiephobozou Sub-Divisions under Kohima District. Village Council Chairmen, BLOs, students and leaders from different organisations participated at the programme. Information Assistant Jakhama Metevizo Sothu also spoke on the importance of electoral participation. Information Assistant, IPR, Akummeren chaired the programme while vote of thanks was proposed by APRO, IPR, Nongozo Rikha. Chairman K.Basa Pfuneilie invoked God’s blessing.
DC Dimapur urges for exercise of franchise
The Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer Dimapur, Nagaland has appealed to all the eligible voters to exercise their franchise without fail, for Lok Sabha polls on the 9th of April 2014 from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. In her appealed she stated that voters should not allow money or other considerations to influence their vote and that they should vote without fear or favour. She emphasised on “ONE MAN, ONE VOTE”, for a “Better Tomorrow”.
Peren district final preparations for polls
In view of the ensuing Lok Sabha Election 2014 the last phase training for all Polling Personnel for Peren District was held at Town Hall Peren on April 7. DC Peren Peter Lichamo urged the Polling Officials to work as team to do their duty well which the Government of India has entrusted. The DC also reminded Polling Official to be very careful in giving reports and conduct mock polls compulsory. Master Trainer Albert also spoke on EVMs, the power point on SMS Based Poll Day Monitoring System was presented by T. Lumchamo Lotha DIO Peren. The EVMs will be distributed on April 8 from 6 a.m. onwards.
219 polling stations under Mon district
Polling parties for 55 A/C Tobu and 48 A/C Moka were dispatched today to their respective polling stations, numbering to 47 Polling station, while the remaining polling officials for the rest of the polling stations of the district will be dispatched tomorrow. All the polling officials were today issued the polling materials to check and compare with the check list and resubmit before being dispatched tomorrow. More than 40 vehicles with 4WD has been specifically arranged to transport the polling officials and polling materials through deplorable road, for successful conduct of election to the 15th Lok Sabha. The Transportation committee had also informed that 6 (six) porters were arranged to carry the polling materials for Longwa Wasa polling station, as there is no road connectivity in this village. The polling officials will have to wake about 30 kms from Phomching sub-division to Longwa wasa. Altogether Mon district has 219 Polling stations. Out of which 4 P/S are critical, 48 P/S are vulnerable and 167 P/S are normal. CCTV will be installed in the four polling station of 46 A/C, Mon ie 46/6, 46/9, 46/12 and 46/13.
‘My Vote Makes My Future’
Kohima, April 7 (MExN): The SVEEP (Systematic Voter’s education Electoral Participation) Campaign, organized under the joint initiative of Election commission of India, CEO- Nagaland, YouthNet and State SVEEP icon Alobo Naga, with the pro-active support from Director and college administrator Kvulo Lorin and Hewasa Lorin culminated at Tetso College, Dimapur on April 6.
The campaign started two weeks ago at Kiphire district with the team travelling across Phek, Peren, Longleng, Tuensang, Mokokchung, Wokha, Zuneboto, Dimapur, Kohima and Mon district. The campaign was to encourage people to vote right during the elections scheduled to be held on April 9 in the state.
During the campaign, YouthNet representative Kuovizo Belho said, “If each one of us votes, we justify democracy and we voice our needs and belief in the leaders that we choose. This also cuts down opportunity for people selling our future by indulging in activities like vote selling, proxy voting, multiple voting, impersonations and more.”
Across all districts, DCs, ADCs, SDOs, EACs and various authorities encouraged the campaign by giving their time and sharing their views with the public, by emphasizing on the importance of voting right and encouraging others to do the same. Ruokuokhrienuo Vizotha and Sulika Chishi from YouthNet also gave presentations on the enrollment process and highlighted that with many young people using technology, having better access to information and looking at how other states are progressing, it is important for us to progress with the rest of the world. “We have development needs and our people want infrastructure, Jobs, peace, better healthcare and good higher education,” they said.
Attended by hundreds across the districts, the audiences were also requested to share this information as many people were still not aware of their rights. A voter, for instance, complained that he only got one Voter’s ID whereas his friend had received two. Pictures of individuals who were involved in double voting were showed (Approved by EC). They also faced challenges such as unions, groups, rains but overall were motivated to learn and share .
State SVEEP icon Alobo Naga who also has a huge fan following across the various districts of Nagaland, then took centre stage performing, having quiz sessions and handing out CDs of the Election theme song created by various artists such as Alo Wanth, The Tetseo sisters, Sulika Achumi, Renbeni Odyuo, Shalo Kent, Asalie Peseyei, DJ INA, Moanungsang and Dimapur Sumi Baptist church children choir. Alobo also shared that sometimes we get pressured by our seniors/peers/communities to vote for a certain candidate, but we have the right to choose and to make them understand that we live in a democracy that allows us to choose who we believe in. He ment ioned that Young Nagaland is progressing and good change is on its way. The campaign was themed under ‘My Vote makes my Future’
