Nagaland state is looking for a private partner to build, operate and run meat processing plant with capacity of 1000 animals per day under Animal Husbandry and Livestock Rearing.

Infrastructures required are sheds with modern facility to keep animals before these are slaughtered, integrated transport facilities for the transport of meat and Effluent treatment plant.

The potential projects for commercial pig breeding centre and slaughter house and meat processing plant, amounting Rs 200 crore was projected as “Investible Projects” in the publication of “Nagaland: An Emerging Investment Destination” brought out by Investment & Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN) during B30 meet of G20 in Kohima.

In brief description, IDAN stated that commercial pig farming in Nagaland for meat production is one of the best and profitable business ideas for the Naga people.

There are several highly meat producing pig breeds available around the globe. Some of those are very suitable for commercial meat production according to the weather and climate of Nagaland.

“Less mortality rate, adequate government infrastructure and proximity to consuming markets makes Nagaland best place for Pig farming,” it stated and called upon the private investors to start pig breeding farms with scope of forward and backward linkage.
