Kohima, December 1 (MExN): The 62nd Statehood Day of Nagaland was celebrated with grandeur at the Secretariat Plaza in Kohima. Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio inaugurated the exhibition stalls set up by various government departments and agencies, highlighting the state’s progress and development.
A major attraction of the celebration was a photo exhibition by the Department of Information and Public Relations. The exhibition traced the journey of Nagaland since its inception as the 16th state of India on December 1, 1963. It featured photographs of the inaugural Statehood Day celebrations, Nagaland Heritage Village Kisama, Hornbill Festivals, developmental milestones, and the visit of the 16th Finance Commission, among others.
Stalls by government departments also drew significant attention. The Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (NIMSR) showcased its contributions to the healthcare sector. The Department of Agriculture exhibited gender-friendly machinery and equipment designed to support farmers, while the Kohima RD Block and T. Khel Kohima Village presented local products supported by the Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM).
