
DIMAPUR, MARCH 20 (MExN): The Nagaland men’s basketball team made history by advancing to the pre-quarterfinals (round of 16) for the first time after a decisive 65-47 victory over Arunachal Pradesh in the league stage.
Captain Neisezo led the team with 17 points, while vice-captain Benhilo Lorin added 11 points to secure the win. The team, coached by Chumben Humtsoe and assisted by Relise Thonger, is managed by Temsu Longkumer.
In the women’s category, Nagaland delivered an impressive 40-12 win against Tripura. Barbara topped the scoring with 16 points, while captain Janice contributed 12. However, the women’s team fell short of qualifying for the next round.
The Nagaland Basketball Association lauded the players and coaching staff for their efforts, calling the achievement a milestone for basketball in the state.
