Nagaland: Mini Hornbill Festival to kickoff from Mokokchung in Aug

Mokokchung, July 9 (MExN): The Mokokchung District Planning & Development Board meeting was held at Conference Hall of ADC Planning on July 9 with DPDB Chairman and Adviser, Imnatiba as Chairman of the meeting.   DIPR in a report stated that, the Adviser informed the members that the present PDA Government in the State is taking a lot of initiatives and maintained that the Mini Hornbill Festival is also one of the many initiatives taken with an objective for unity among people and for greater exposure of the State. He therefore called upon all the members who are directly and indirectly involved in the programme to give their best to make the programme a grand success.  

Minister for Urban Development & Municipal Affairs, Metsubo Jamir who also attended the meeting said that Tsüngremmong, one of the most important festivals of the Aos, will be clubbed with the Mini Hornbill festival giving more meaning to the celebration. He called upon all the government departments and the NGOs to come forward and participate by contributing ideas for the success of the festival.  

Deputy Commissioner who is also the Chairman of the Mini Hornbill Festival in the District presented the Committee meeting minutes in connection with the Festival in Mokokchung which was fixed to be held from August 1 to 3. After thorough discussion among the members with newly added ideas the house accepted and approved the programme as proposed.  

After reviewing the last meeting minutes, agendas on registration of societies- i.e. Educare Society, Kumlong Ward Mokokchung and Mosais Society, Longpange Sector, Mokokchung Village were approved and forwarded.  

The House also discussed the deteriorating road conditions of NH2, Tuli Sector and the Department concern informed that due to the litigation in the court owing to price escalation, the Department was not in a position to interfere. The house advised the Department to sort things out with the contractors so that normal life will not be affected.  

Taking note on the non-availability of fish in the market due to the recent ban imposed on fish supply after detecting formalin in the fish supply, the Board agreed in principal to encourage and find ways to invite local fish producers in the market.
