Nagaland, Mizoram register wins in U-19 Friendship Cup matches

Dimapur, April 7 (MExN): Nagaland and Mizoram recorded victories in rain-curtailed league matches of the 4th NECDC U-19 Inter State Friendship Cup 2026 played at Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Chumoukedima and Sovima Cricket Ground, Dimapur.

In the first match, Nagaland defeated Manipur by five wickets in a contest reduced to 39 overs, chasing a revised target of 159 under the VJD method.

Put in to bat, Manipur were all out for 184 in 43.1 overs. MD Danish Khan scored 36 off 51 balls while Naeesh added 35 off 37. For Nagaland, Yashimeren Jamir took 3 wickets for 18 runs in 10 overs and Amongti Lkr picked up 3 wickets for 16 runs in 5.1 overs.

In reply, Nagaland reached 160 for 5 in 32.5 overs. Samir Ali scored 50 off 44 balls, while Tachuye contributed 35 off 65. For Manipur, Naeesh returned figures of 3/54 and MD Danish Khan took 2/25. Yashimeren Jamir was named Player of the Match.

In the second match, Mizoram defeated Sikkim by seven wickets in another rain-affected encounter, successfully chasing a revised target of 131.

Batting first, Sikkim were all out for 153 in 46.1 overs, with Parvin Kuikel top-scoring with 45 off 54 balls. Mizoram bowlers dominated, led by Stephen Lalawmpuia with figures of 3/8 in 10 overs and Henry Lallawmzuala with 3/27 in 10 overs.

Chasing the target, Mizoram scored 132 for 3 in 24.4 overs. Immanuel Lalpekhlua made 44 off 62 balls, while Johan Lalhriatpuia added 35 off 50. Sahil Rai, Bhavya Ladha and Nekash Rai picked up a wicket each for Sikkim. Stephen Lalawmpuia was adjudged Player of the Match.
