Nagaland MP-elect raises concern over plight of detained Naga youth

Kohima, June 23 (MExN): Nagaland lone Member of Parliament (elect) to Lok Sabha S Supongmeren Jamir has called for prompt intervention of the State Government in the matter related to reported detainment of 45 Naga youth in connection with call centre scam in Chandigarh.

As per an NPCC press release, Jamir raised the issue with the Nagaland Chief Minister, Home Minister and Chief Secretary and expressing concern over the  plight of the detained youth,  urged their prompt intervention.

It must be noted here that the State DIPR informed that Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio discussed the issue of detention of 45 Naga youths in the Mohali Jail, Punjab with Advocate General K N Balgopal, at New Delhi on June 22. 

In the meeting, he directed the Advocate General to personally intervene in the case and asked him to depute his team to take “urgent necessary actions for the release of the innocent Naga youths who are falsely implicated in this case.”

Rio also directed the Resident Commissioner in-charge of Nagaland House, New Delhi to be in touch with the families of the innocent Naga youth and extend all necessary help required for them.

The parents/relatives of the Naga youth have been requested to contact the Government of Nagaland to provide all information and cooperation for getting these innocent Naga Youths released, the DIPR added.
