DIMAPUR, MARCH 15 (MExN): Nagaland Members of Parliament of both houses, W Wangyuh Konyak and TR Zeliang today said they were taken aback by the news report which said the NUTA had “blasted both the sitting MPs for not raising the Nagaland University issue in the ongoing parliament session.” In a joint rejoinder, the MPs said being teachers, the NUTA should know that there are certain rules and procedures to raise any issue in the House. “They have also alleged that we have gone back from our assurance given to NUTA that we will submit a joint representation in parliament, which is totally false and misleading our people back home.”
Stating that they had assured their full cooperation to NUTA when they had met Akali and Rose Mary, two of the teachers, while they were camping in Delhi, the legislators said they had drafted a joint representation to the President of India who is “the Visitor of Nagaland University by designation.” They said the teachers know very well that the President is out of the country for which they could not submit the representation, the rejoinder said. If the representation does not deliver, we intend to pursue the matter further, Wangyuh and Zeliang said.
“When both of us have considered the ongoing problem with all seriousness how can they say we have gone back against our assurance and we have nexus with Professor GD Sharma Vice Chancellor, Nagaland University?”
