96.58% vaccinated and still counting
DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 16 (MExN): The Nagaland Measles and Rubella Vaccination Campaign (MRVC) which was scheduled to end on November 17, 2018 have been extended for another ten (10) working days. This was informed by the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare (DoHFW) on Friday.
A total of 4, 33,178 children have been vaccinated with MR vaccine through 3,027 school and 2,483 outreach sessions attaining a coverage percentage of 96.58% as of the moment.
With the desire to make Nagaland free of Measles and Rubella which is only possible with 100% coverage achievement, the State has decided to extend the campaign, the press statement from the DoHFW stated.
Parents are again requested to take their children, if still unvaccinated, to the nearest health facility – either the District Hospital, CHC, PHC or a sub-centre at the earliest.
The department also stated that there have been no reported cases of Adverse Event Following Immunization (AEFI) till date.
AEFI means any untoward medical occurrence which follows immunization and which does not necessarily have a causal relationship with the usage of the vaccine. The adverse event may be any unfavorable or unintended sign, abnormal laboratory finding, symptom or disease.
