DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 25 (MExN): Nagaland Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign (MRVC) has reached a coverage of 4, 48 504 children with overall percentage of 76.62 as on October 23, 2018. This was informed by the Department of Health & Family Welfare at the State Task Force meeting to review the ongoing MRVC on Wednesday in Kohima.
District wise, Longleng district had the highest coverage at 96.88%, followed by Mokokchung 95.36%, Tuensang 94.06%, Kiphire 91.13%, Mon 88.08%, Peren 85.73%, Wokha 80. 51%, Zunheboto 75.85%, Kohima 71.27%, Dimapur 66.1%, and Phek at 58.7%, a DIPR report informed.
Principal Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, I. Himato Zhimomi, who chaired the meeting, urged the State and District Task Force and partners to continue their follow up actions and support in order to achieve high coverage. He also appealed to all the parents to be well informed and avail the opportunity for the betterment of their children. He also requested the media to continue their support in highlighting the coverage of MR Vaccination.
State Immunization Officer -UIP, Dr. Atoshe Sema said that the vaccination campaigns were done in four types of session sites - educational institutes, outreach sites, mobile/special team, & facility based session sites.
SMO (WHO), Dr. Sheila Longkumer said that overall, communication plans were well executed from the State through workshop for faith based organizations and media personnel and there was a very good involvement of staff at all levels of the State for the ongoing MRV campaign.
Due to the good coordination between the departments and partners, the State has reached a target of 75% in 20 days, she added.
