Nagaland MRVC: Total coverage stands at 93.52%

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 9 (MExN): The Directorate of Health & Family Welfare (DoHFW) stated on Friday that Nagaland Measles and Rubella Vaccination Campaign (MVRC) is inching towards 100% coverage.   A press release received from the DoHFW informed that as on November 8, 2108, Nagaland MRVC has successfully immunized 4,19,460 children through 2,988 school and 2,332 outreach sessions. The total coverage now stands at 93.52% and the department is hopeful that the State will attain 100% coverage in the next few days, it added. The health department also gave credit to the tireless efforts put in by the district administration, colony/ward/village chairperson, religious leaders, NGOs and health professionals which it said stands testament to the conviction in the efforts to eliminate Measles and protect children from Rubella diseases.   The department has been organizing repeated school and outreach sessions to make sure that no child is left unvaccinated and be potential threat to fellow students and community by spreading measles/rubella which is easily preventable through vaccination, it added. MR vaccine is still available at all government health facilities (District Hospital, CHC, PHC and Sub-Centre's) for children between 9 months to 15 years who has missed MR vaccination at school or outreach sessions due to various reasons. Parents are therefore requested to visit the nearest health facility at the earliest to get your children vaccinated, the health department further informed.
